Great restaurant at Le Cote Vert hotel. They always have new dishes, plus keep a good list of classics in the menu (e.g. T Bone steak), just in case!
They start with an apetizer, then a soup, first course, main dish and desert. Totally worth it on each and every occasion I have eaten there (many). The meat is excellent, both the beef and the lamb. On the side dishes you can always go for the frites maison, or try something else - salad, or whatever the chef has chosen for each dish, you won´t be disappointed.
Desert, although I am not a big fan of them in general, have been good. There´s always a chocolate option, that, in my many visits, has always been great (souffle, mouse, cake, etc).
The maitre is well versed in wines, if in doubt, you can fully trust him.

Sit down for dinner where history saw the birth of Europe... Within reach of the cannon of the Waterloo battlefield and the famous Lion, Martin's Grand Hotel pays tribute to the fathers of European history, like Napoleon, Wellington and Blucher... Giving the hotel's friendly bar and delectable restaurant an extraordinary soul and charm.

So there we went again, on a Sunday night where potentially preferred choices were not open.
The restaurant in in a vaulted room that was part of a sugar factory that apparently never operated as such. By lack of water, talk about planning. But anyway, room is quite nice.
Service very good. We liked the food but we good the feeling that there was a bit of a problem with salt, with some components of most dishes overly salty, while overall the dishes were OK. We still enjoyed our dinner.
Place is not cheap BTW. Appears that the default language is English, not French. Probably because the restaurant caters mostly to hotel customers.

Delightful surroundings where refined architecture and world flavours are united in perfect harmony. During the summer months, the restaurant opens its two terraces, which are equipped with comfortable teak furniture and giant parasols covered in ecru-coloured canvas.

We had diner in Genval Les Bains during a stay in Chateau du Lac. Staff is friendly. Most of them speak Dutch, which was convenient considering our limited French knowledge. Service is good, allthough it sometimes seems a bit chaotic. Tables are sufficiently far from eachother to have enough privacy. In summertime it could be interesting to reserve a window table to have a nice view of the lake. In our case it was dark already.
The food was very good, with a good price - quality balance.
Overall had a lovely evening, and would not hesitate to go back again.

Aux Trois Canards

The restaurant is situated in the countryside just outside of Ohain. The building is attractive and nice. The buildings have a great potential, but are a bit worn out. Windows not very well painted, a bit off, garden could be very nice, but is not well maintained. So after all that is what stays in your mind, the great potential.
With the food it is not much different. My starter was a bouillabaisse. The bowl was filled well, but it tasted overcooked. As if the pan had been on the stove for too long time or on a. Too high temperature. Also there as no fish or shellfish in the soup, which is quite a normal thing with bouillabaisse. My main course was an entrecôte of veal with a sauce of morilles. The veal was excellent and cooked exactly to my likings, however the sauce didn't taste to morales and I after careful scrutiny I found one part of a mushroom in the sauce. My wife had the mussels which were OK, but the accompanying French fries were an offence to the Belgian traditions. That there was a dog in the restaurant so now and then that was hence chased out by the owner (I think) was for me a sign that the owners are not really passionate with what they do. All elementary hygiene rules will tell you 'no live animals in areas were food is processed'. So we willed our stomachs, but didn't really enjoy.
