Pleasant and comfortable stay

Reviewed By b1scu1t18

Stayed for one week towards the end of May. Arrived later at night and was taken to our apartment by reception. The room was big enough, clean and seemed to have everything we would need. Bed was large and comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. Bathroom was a decent size with an amazing powerful walk-in shower. We had a junior suite on the ground floor so had a reasonable sized terrace to sit out on. There was also a pull out couch-bed in the living room. Bedroom and living room both had TV’s but we didn’t use them as we had a tablet. WiFi was powerful in and around the suite. Pool area is very clean but small, to be honest it’s one of the cleanest pools I have ever seen! The garden areas are pretty and well-kept and there was a rooftop bar which we used a few times. There seemed to be two connected restaurants but we didn’t eat at these (due to personal menu choices - not for any other reason). The only gripe I had was the room temperature as it was very warm, so maybe a cooler in the living room would be good - there was one in the bedroom but it didn’t really cool the room down on full power. I would however 100% stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting the island. Location is quiet but not far at all on foot to visit the plentiful bars/restaurants and also two larger supermarkets.

Near enough as good as the reviews - spoilt by some vile staff

Reviewed By Bunny K

I had to give this place 5*'s because in all, it was a lush place to stay and 99% of the service was actually impeccable. The entrance to the main reception was lovely, the butler was helpful and polite, as were reception. We were greeted with champagne and homemade cookies - a lovely touch after a long journey! My hubby and I had the Master Suite, unlimited luxury for 5 days and extended for 2 days as we were enjoying ourselves so much. With the UL package, it was literally all you can eat and drink for free with very few exceptions. The butler app was amazing - no needing to pick up the phone constantly, regular updates and quick service. Our room was a treat - a balcony stretching across the living room to the bedroom, with a sea view. Huge beds, large TV in each room (unfortunately we could not screen cast due to tech incompatibility but we enjoyed some shows in Spanish!). Comfy sofas, but my favourite was actually the bathroom! The rainfall shower has to be one of the best I have experienced - and so spacious! There was a large jacuzzi tub big enough for two - although when we used it briefly, it spat out lots of black bits and we had to get out!! We couldn't use it as we planned to use it on our last day. I would suggest for the staff to clean the pipes out with solution. There was of course a his and hers sink and lots of towels. In fact there was also a lovely tote bag with beach towels for our stay and even this came in handy. The minibar was mostly refilled everyday, again all inclusive. Water bottles were available in abundance, and even the balcony was cleaned thoroughly everyday. The staff at the restaurants were polite, helpful and had a good sense of humour. Himitsu was by far our favourite restaurant, and we're glad we tried it twice - both a la carte and tepanyaki. The staff at the Market Cafe were also chirpy and quick to serve. The extra effort they put in such as providing an extra table to our side, so that we had enough table space was again, a nice touch. We had a little issue of ants in the room because I left my cookie (unopened wrapper) on the tea/coffee table. We also then had ants trailing from the bathroom to the cupboards. They were not harmful at all, but I don't like creepy crawlies. Housekeeping was always quick to clean it up - it just meant I didn't open my cookie as I didn't want the ants coming back!! I appreciate that these critters are hard to keep out, but I would suggest a little more sealant rather than just spraying them dead!! The restaurant on the pier was also amazing - lovely food, cheerful service and beautiful views - oh and the drinks here were amazing!! We spent a lot of time on the poolside for some hours at a time. The way it is situated means there is hardly any wind, it was always very quiet, plenty of loungers and towels available, and a waiting service for drinks - and to my surprise on the last day, food too! Apparently there was a warm pool, but I never did find that one. We didn't attend the live music in the evenings much, but for the brief while that we did, it was lovely as was the atmosphere. It's a lovely way to utilise the grand reception area. How can I forget - near the spa, there is a huge jacuzzi which is outdoors. No one seemed to know about it so my hubby and I had it all to ourselves!! This is a MUST when the sun is gleaming. Don't get caught in heavy rain as I almost did!! Going on to the spa - 2 hours access inclusive for every day of our stay, per person. I mean how lush! Both of us really enjoyed this, and there were lots of fun features which you would expect - even jacuzzi loungers! We both enjoyed this - the water temperature was gorgeous - I could have cooked away! *** Important feedback which I regret to give however *** the Rendezvous bar service was appalling. There were two ladies in particular who I won't name, who were incredibly rude and abrupt. They had no apology to make and in fact argued back. I was disappointed and this caused some upset during our stay - it's not what we expect when paying this much money for time to switch off and have our needs catered to. The drinks were also really horrid. I must say, I was really unsure if these two waitresses had a personal issue of some sort - they seemed to choose who they had manners with and who they didn't, if you get my drift. Following one of the days of experiencing their ill manners, we were disappointed to learn that one of them was the waitress at the poolside the following day. She still had not found her smile, nor could she find the words such as, 'please' or 'you're welcome'. Further feedback is that despite paying for UL - we sat in the very pretty Preferred Club section at breakfast, however nobody provided my husband and I with the UL Menu for the first 2 or 3 days. It wasn't until we had a particularly attentive waiter who gave this to us, we had realised that we'd missed out on special, cooked breakfasts. Nonetheless, the food quality was nice. We found the hotel to be peaceful on the 3rd floor, and slept well. We even bumped into the MD during our stay who was friendly and asked how our stay was going. Luckily for the Rendezvous staff, we hadn't experienced them yet - lol!! In all, thank you Secrets Bahia Real Resort & Spa for our wonderful break. I'm sure that if we return to Fuerteventura, we will definitely return!

Playa Park Zensation

The family-friendly smartline Playa Park is in the northeast of Fuerteventura, the second largest of Spain's Canary Islands. Fuerteventura sits in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa, and is a popular destination due to its white sand beaches and typically warm weather. Set in the resort town of Corralejo, smartline Playa Park is within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants, and it's a short walk to the nearest beach. The hotel's modern buildings are Spanish in style, with terracotta roofs, whitewashed walls and arched windows. They sit in tree-lined gardens surrounding the pool area. The hotel underwent refurbishment in August 2018. There are two main outdoor pools at smartline Playa Park, one of which is heated and one rooftop pool for premium guests. There's also a shallower kids' pool with a water slide. You can relax on the sun terrace with a cold drink or a snack from the poolside bar. If you're keen to stay active on your holiday, you can work out at the hotel's gym or enjoy a game of table tennis. If you'd prefer to be pampered, there's a spa where you can relax with a treatment and a session in the sauna. You'll find Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. There are two beaches nearby that you might like to visit. One is the sandy Las Dunas, which has shallow water, making it a popular choice for families with young children. You'll also find a beach at the sand dunes of Corralejo, part of the Corralejo Natural Park, which has a distinctive landscape of rolling sand dunes.

Gino the entertainer was brilliant as always but had time booked off the second week we were there so his replacement started and on his first and only day he got drunk in the daytime letting kids play darts whilst he was just drinking shots - we kept our grandchild away from him as this was not safe - he returned in the evening to do the entertainment and carrying on drinking all night spilling drinks and letting the bar staff clean up after him - later on in the night he started arguing with the guests telling my son to shut up and pushing him when he was sitting down as a family with friends they had met- this made my granddaughter very upset - the bar staff kept telling him to leave but he would not - he even got on the mic at 11 am telling people to go to there rooms . the next day my son went to report him to the reception and asked to see the manager but we were told he was in a meeting - we later found out the meeting was about the entertainer and he never returned. my son went back up after a hour as was asked to and the manager told him to get out of his office and would not let my son explain what had happened and how upset he was being confronted on holiday in front of his child. This was reported to jet2 reps and had different reps coming in to have meeting with us on4 different days which spoilt the holiday even more having to go back over what happened to different reps - we have had no apologies from the manager just abuse Gino had to cancel leave and return

The best thing about this hotel is the friendly helpful staff. From the girl on the desk girl at breakfast and especially our brilliant bar girl in rooftop bar. The hotel is in a perfect spot everything you need only steps away. Painted a brilliant white with blue accents spotlessly clean. If l had to find fault it's the bathroom is tiny with unfortunately a clear glass door so not very private. Lovely quiet rooftop area with very comfortable beds.
