Beer & Barrel is my favorite place in Kupang on my way from Rote to Bali. Waiting time in Kupang can be long some days. Beer & Barrel is perfect place to spend. Beautiful place on the beach with Swimming pool where you can rest. Food is very good and me personally like Japanese Food Selection. If you bored can play billiard with Cold beer.
Personal is Well trained and nice. Recommended.

Delicious, smoky pork, prepared in many ways, or eaten as it is with rice and hot chili (sambal lu'at). Don't forget to bring your cholesterol medication. Don't expect anything posh. It's just a big shack on a small street. Slow service, but the food is worth the time

Being a regular guest to Aston Kupang Hotel, it is only natural that I also frequently dine at this restaurant.
Beside it's spacy and elegant interior, they serve a wide range of very delightful cuisine.

If you plan a trip to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. Please stay at Hotel Swissbelinn Kristal Kupang. In this beach front hotel there's a BaReLo Restaurant and Coffee-shop, such a cozy place to relax, having coffee, cold beers, and snacks...!
They served cocktails and wine as well if you want it? Lied in the sea-side of Sawu Oceans, made this place a great spot to catch the great sunset in Kupang area....!

Last vacation we manage to go to Kupang and visit this famous Sei Babi Baun - Om Ba'i during our visit to one of our relative in Baun county.
I love meat and really love traveling around Indonesia and finding local cuisine and especialy pork.....
When we got here, I already imagine the place to be dirty, not very hygene, with flies, bad service and not a compfy place. Yes, all the reviewer is rite, that is the place that I got, typical traditional food in Indonesa. And I have no problem about that.
We ordered the pork ribs since it is recommended by my family, taste it with the rice and sambal Lu'at (traditional Kupang Chilli). The meat is nicely cooked and yes it is delicious. For around 400 - 500K Rupiah you can have a big portion of Se'i complete with rice and drinks for 5 - 6 person to eat for lunch. Very nice deal....
However, turns out that my stomach is not for this kind of food, just a couple hours after eating the tasty meat it became a nightmare for me, having a bad diarea after that.
Although the meat is OK, I did not expect to have a bad stomach day after that. So for you guys who happens to be have a not strong stomach I do not recommend this type of cuisine just limit your self with the ones in Kupang city. However if you had a strong stomach you should try this Sei.

Indigo is the best place in Kupang for pizza, they have so many varieties and they are all amazing! They boast an extensive menu with pasta, sandwiches and Indonesian fare as well. This is a spacious restaurant great for business lunches or large-group dinners. The owner Ulli is a delight and if you are there on a night where he is playing guitar you will be treated to a wonderful evening of music and ambiance. It is a bit pricey for Kupang, especially if you are getting Western food but the portions are fair and it is a great place if you are wanting to treat yourself.

This place had good food but even for a 'fancy' place it seemed a little expensive for Kupang standards. The gift shop was definitely overpriced, everything was set prices at 150K more than what you'd get in any tourist shop in town even before bargaining. But what was most off-putting was the owner's political affiliations with the former general Prabowo, who was responsible for some of the worst human rights abuses during the military dictatorship. The owner is a politician in the national legislature so maybe he makes questionable alliances for his career, but it is really unnecessary to decorate the restaurant with photos and propaganda quotes from somebody as tainted as Prabowo. Even if your stomach enjoys this, you should feel really guilty pulling out your wallet to contribute to this.

Excellent fresh grill red grouper fish. Good rica-rica sambal at side as I prefer the fish to be grilled with salt only. Good price too for such quality and taste. Looks like an iconic eating place in Kupang as many celebrity photos hung on wall.
