Far from the north coast resort towns, Kingston is Jamaica at its most authentic, a sprawling city of contrasts spread between the east coast and the Blue Mountains. Kingston's diversity is reflected in its disparate neighborhoods, from the wealthy northern suburbs to the less affluent downtown. Travelers can discover the spirit of One Love at the Bob Marley Museum, or sample delicious ice cream at Devon House. Came in and the music being played was very inappropriate reggae dance hall not fit for airplay. When asked for it to be changed and expressing the malcontent whilst indicating there were children present, the 'DJ' asked "where are the kids". That shouldn't be the first response but nonetheless said children were identified. The music was then changed to some very loud alternative (Pink to be exact) with a bassline that would give even the most diehard audiophile motion sickness. Long story short it was reported to the on duty manager who apologised and changed the music to something considerably more fitting not just for the establishment but the country as a whole (nlsome mellow tunes by Cronixx kicked off the playlist). Food ServiceDrinks took so long that I had to go to the bar and reordered and ended up with duplicate drinks by the time we got started.Entrees came out before the appetizer...and my side order of Bammy came out with the appetizer...after we all finished our entrees. I had the smoked porkchop which has excellent flavors but was tough and over cooked and was tiny. Something with such great flavor deserves to be a double cut chop at the very least. The salt fish fritters were the appetizer and was inedible (unless u were cruising for a heart attack) because the oiliness was insane. It was literally dripping off the fritters which I'd estimate were 80% flour 10% filler and 10% fish. Doubtful I'll be making a return trip here. For the record I love music bold and loud and enjoy just about every genre and have been in the. Car audio scene since the 90's so I'm no 'snowflake' when it comes to music, but everyone has their limits. Can't reasonably recommend this establishment. But hey at least the waitress was receptive to the criticisms and took it all in stride. She'll need to maintain that level of composure if she is to survive there.

We had a wonderful New Year's brunch in 2018 at The Blue Window, and so, we came back New Year's Day 2019 for a "repeat performance." Unfortunately, although the ambiance and venue were up to the expected standard, and the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was NOT!! The soup (both the seafood chowder and the Pegasus red pea soup), which was served at table, was excellent, but the choices on the buffet and their availability were appalling and unacceptable for the special day. The hot buffet consisted of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, grilled chicken, and a meat that was carved by the one server working on the buffet line, which was labelled as "brisket" but was clearly ham. There was a missing dish that was not replenished even after 10 minutes and a query about where it was. This is a very sparse offering for New Year's Brunch. The salad was equally sparse: basically lettuce, tomato, and a dish containing combined dressed tomato and cucumber. There was one other choice of combined salad ingredients, and other ingredients like cheese, beets and pickles, but altogether, the choice was extremely limited. One member of our party noticed that one man who came for brunch went and inspected the buffet and then asked for a menu. Perhaps this is what we should have done. This was actually the third time I had come to have lunch or brunch at The Blue Window this year, and all of them were disappointing. This was the final disappointment: we won't be back again. I do NOT recommend the Blue Window for anything. I suspect that the coffee shop upstairs would offer more choice and better quality food and service.

This spot is excellent for an after-work linkup. Far from the noise of rush hour traffic, you can get very tasty food, a great selection of "adult" beverages, and excellent service! The decor is very chill (no pun intended) and it's just a very easy vibe.

We had some drinks after work and ordered some snacks. Then we ordered the special that included jerk and south african cooking. It was nice, but the initial portions were ridiculously small for a large group so we complained and then we got too much food that we could barely eat all.The pool side was very nice, although there was a big event and we could only sit by the bar. We ordered spring rolls and snacks all of them very good. Good friendly service as well.

This was my choice for dinner one night while on a business trip. The venue is great, nicely decorated and clean. For dinner I chose pumpkin soup, coconut shrimp and done pumpkin rice. The pumpkin soup was absolutely amazing. The shrimp was average but plated well. Finally the pumpkin rice was wonderful. It was a quiet night yet service was slow. The waiter was friendly but not as attentive as I would expect.

Now located at Devon House, i decided to treat my wife to something different. The evening didnt start well with things not being on the menu, but the staff and Manageress, would not let us be unsatisfied customers. A measure of a great restaurant is how far they will make a customer happy. OPA gets top marks. Not on the menu, no problem, just fix up something similar. Great atmosphere, I will definately be back.

Terra Nova Hotel Restaurant

Reviewed By will505

This is one of the old, established restaurants in Kingston but definitely showing its age. Food was mediocre considering it is considered a 5-star level restaurant and one of the more famous in Kingston. Recipes probably haven't changed in decades. Go to some of the newer establishments in Kingston. This restaurant caters mostly to tourists and locals with birthdays. And the service was really strange -- they took our food orders and then later another waiter came to take our cocktail orders.Dear will505, Thank you for choosing The Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel, and especially for taking the time to share with us your feedback. We are grateful for your mixed review highlighting aspects of your recent experience with us and are disheartened to understand from your review that we did not meet all your expectations. We remain grateful for comments like these that help us to improve our product on a daily basis, and with these improvements, we would love to have the opportunity to host you again.Regards,Kristene Douglas
