My wife, her mother and I had lunch at this Hotel restaurant on the 19th of March. A very centrally located restaurant, good ambience, courteous service, good food (buffet) and reasonably priced. They offered a mix of local Kerala dishes and a few chinese preparations. Desserts were particularly good.

When I went to my son's college we went to Ajwa restaurant with few of his friends. We ordered special Mutton, Chicken and Fish biriyani and must say that the biriyani was really great. Well cooked with good quality rice, spices used properly and quantity also sufficient; tasted good with the pickle and salad. Had a lime tea after the food and the rates were also moderate. Nice hospitality; take away parcels are also available. It's a biriyani lovers paradise.

Ordered a perfectly strong spiced fish curry with Keralan flaky bread. Hot as it should (and still possible to eat for a swede) be with lot of flavour. Not cheap but certainly not overpriced. Used to be a big fan ( when there was no big food culture in Trivandrum). Now more worried than being a fan. It's a huge chain now with multiple hotels. Still the Palayam one fails frequently in food security checks. I used to go to this place without any second thought. Now, I'm little worried and likely to skip! I know it reopens everytime after a day or two. But that doesn't nullify what happened.

If only this magnificent restaurant was in Melbourne, Australia, I would visit it regularly. Sheer magnificence from the greeting at the front entrance through to the food and then there was the tour of the premises. Our waiter was a sheer delight, friendly, happy to help with anything we needed, great advice and at the end of the evening arranged a tuk tuk for us. The food was out of this world. To the eye, extremely pleasing but then came the eating. My goodness, what was this magnificence? Presented beautifully followed up with the most delightful taste.The facility itself is beautiful and romantically lit. The outdoor dining experience was the most romantic experience I have ever had. Candlelit with water cascading along the little moats. Serene. Some reviews mentioned the cost be rather exorbitant. I would disagree. Perhaps for Trivandrum it is expensive but, we would have paid so much more anywhere else, particularly in Australia.
