Almaty /ˈælməti/ (Kazakh: Алматы, Almaty [ɑlmɑˈtə]; Russian: Алматы), formerly known as Alma-Ata /ˌælmə.əˈtɑː/ (Russian: Алма-Ата) and Verny (Russian: Верный Vernyy), is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of 1,797,431 people, about 8% of the country's total population. It served as capital of the Kazakh state in its various forms from 1929 to 1997, under the influence of the then Soviet Union and its appointees. Alma-Ata was the host city for a 1978 international conference on Primary Health Care where the Alma Ata Declaration was adopted, marking a paradigm shift in global public health. In 1997, the government relocated the capital to Astana in the north of the country, which is about 12 hours away by train.

I wouldn't even use the word 'influenced', much less 'inspired', to describe the so-called Japanese food served here. They would give the food too much credit. The more appropriate description would be 'Japanese acknowledged'. The noodles weren't Japanese, the sushi and makis are imagined to be Japanese, and the baos (the only item good here) aren't even Japanese.Putting side the notion that we are having Japanese food, the food quality here is ordinary at best. They are serviceable but won't surprise you. It looks to us like the main crowd here are students, so they are not exactly very demanding. The deco appeals to its target market and the service is good, which is the saving grace of this restaurant.

The food here was fantastic. My wife and I ordered two different starters and two different mains, the quality was excellent in all of our dishes. Service was prompt without being overbearing.As others have mentioned, Sumo San has an extensive menu - the four dishes we wanted were available however the out of all the lemonade options (somewhere between 7 and 8 I think) only two were available. This was mildly disappointing, but did not detract from the overall quality of Sumo San.We would happily return, perhaps even with our kids next time (there were plenty of options on the menu for them).

We walked 5 blocks from our Hotel Kazzhol up to this restaurant specializing in all types of seafood. A waitress out front escorted us to an interior table and picture menus detailed in English arrived quickly. After ordering, a serving of bread and butter arrived followed by our pot of green tea. After ~10 minutes our grilled tilapia with lemon was served, one with fries and the other with spinach. The portions were generous, cooked perfectly and served by an attentive waiter who spoke some English. Property is spotless including the restroom. Our bill included a required 10% tip totaling 5687 Kzt=~$15, and in our opinion offers good value.

Nice and friendly restaurant, located inside the big shopping center Dostyk Plaza . Big place , good quality of fish , several options to offer to the customers. Kept very clean . In case someone needs , toilets are inside the restaurant. Good option .

Manga Sushi is located in a good place, easily accessible. Prices are medium level. Taste of sushi is ok. Staff is polite. Worth having food here for sushi lovers.
