Was worried when the car turned off the congested dusty road into the non descript driveway. Then the front doors to the lobby opened and wow... A beautiful authentic vibrant hotel was exactly what we saw. The hotel is everything you would want in Katmandu. The people, food and atmosphere were excellent. Nice pool, spa and restaurants. Rooms are great and decorated to go with the hotel. The Nepalese restaurant was excellent. The birds are loud but not at all a negative. Wonderful hotel i would recommend to all.

Wow that bruchetta was to die for. Really flavorful. I will remember that for a long time. The staff were very welcoming. It's a neat place in the heart of asan shopping district. Great garden, private atmosphere for lunch and dinner. Will be back here next year.

The food here is so delicious! The tofu was unlike any tofu we've had before in the way it was prepared.
The wasabi actually has a hit!
My mouth waters when I think about the okonomiyaki.
Their Japanese green tea was very tasty.
We were in Japan in march and we were not disappointed with the food here.
Staff are very friendly and the food came out quickly.
Recommend to all.
Only area for improvement is the edamame, which was overlooked.

Perfect example of what happens when places like this get hyped on tripadvisor. Everybody goes there and make themselves believe its fantastic. It's nothing special though. It's not bad either, and yes, it's quite cheap. But food here is really not that special. Mediocre at best, more or less what you'd eat in cheap Indian eateries in Europe. There's way better Indian food around, for those that look a tiny bit further than Thamel. Gupta Bhojanalaya on Chetrapati, for example.

This is one of the best restaurants in the Kathmandu Valley. The entrance is in a little alley right off the stupa. That same alley is the perfect way to enter the stupa from the street. The menu is varied and the food is always tasty. The view from the windows is fine, but the best view is from the rooftop tables. My photo of the stupa with 'Losar' lights was taken from this restaurant. This is a small operation that gets plenty of personalized, loving care from the Western owners. A great place to meet friends and hang out for the evening. Popular with expats and old Asia Hands.

Thamel caters to tourists, so many of its restaurants feature international fare. The problem with that is getting the proper ingredients when they really aren't accessible in Nepal. Thus, your best restaurants in Nepal tend to be the ones that specialize in Indian and Nepali...MoreThanks for your encouraging review. Stayed opposite this place and decided to try it. Comfy looking cafe both from outside and inside - see pics. Small place - sits only about 20 so come early during meal times. Went about 3pm and it was almost full. Their servings are big. Had a big bowl of cajun chicken salad - vinaigrette dressing, fresh mushroom, lettuce, brinjal with generous chucks of chicken & tasty garlic toast. Neighbouring customer loved her huge plate of carbonara spaghetti. I simply loved their ice cold thick hazelnut Frappecino. Big straw. Fast service and friendly young staff. Had loaves of bread and wine lining the shelves on one wall. Will try those next time. Had a TV high on one wall but nobody is watching when there is good conversation going on. Wifi was strong.

As of November2017, it has been opened less than one year. It was recommended to me by the hotel I was staying at which was right around the corner. I ate there twice and both times, it was delicious. Good service, good food, and ultra clean. They had an extensive menu which you can also order local Nepalese food.
