Proposed Review: Fisherman's Inn ZUVELE is situated in Juodkrante near the long Lagoon. The name of this charming seaside-patio, shaped like a boat with fish-shaped wooden-chair backs, means Fishy. This business is run by the family of the oldest local fisherman, who brings his daily catch to be served for clients. Restaurant's menu is based on fish dishes, from local salt and fresh waters fish, that is prepared fried, boiled, grilled or marinated. Moreover, you can purchase hot-smoked fish from a little old lady, who sells it directly from a smoker facing the dining area. She snips the fish with shears into pieces, which you then take away to eat with your bare hands. That appears to be the only way smoked fish can be had throughout the Curonian Spit. The restaurant does provide a wash basin located directly in the dining area. You'll likely also need that after carefully plucking the fish off the bones in the delicious fish soup, made from several kinds of fish, and containing any part of the fish whatsoever (mine had an orange-colored fishtail in it). For the more-fastidious dinner, most of the other menu items can be eaten with knife and fork alone. This is not fare to eat in all one's finery, or a place to proudly display your impeccable table manners, but you'd be hard-pressed to find fresher or better-tasting local seafood. There is a wondrous garden in back (through which you pass on the way to the WC), where the restaurant grows some of its own vegetables and herbs, where there was a squash vine growing up and out of a soil-filled dory. To us, Zuvele was a truly memorable experience from our two-week trip across Lithuania in August 2011.

I would give max 4 stars under different circumstances, I'm giving 5 stars because all other places in Juodkrante are bit overrated. Food there is OK, service is good as it was some time ago - thanks to the waitress Ieva who was serving us...MoreThank you for visiting us after 3 years. We appreciate your feedback. A cozy restaurant with a multinational cuisine. We offer our guests not only selected foods and drinks, but also tranquility of Juodkrante and beautiful view of Curonian Lagoon.

We only stopped for some coffee and enjoyed their mouth-watering chocolate cake with it. We had to wait for it for about 20 minutes but it was worth it. The waiter was polite and we were satisfied with the service. The parking space in front of the house is a bonus.

There are only few places in Juodkrante where you can get decent meals. This one is rated quite high, unfortunately I regret we came here for the lunch. Service is slow, waiters (young students) behave like it's their first day and no-one provided any instruction how to serve customers. But that's not the worst part, I'm quite tolerant for the slow service. BTW, they don't have menu' s for the tables so you have to read it from the whiteboard near the entrance.
The worst part was the meals - cold beetroot soup (šaltibarščiai) tasted like it was diluted with bad sour milk; traditional potato pudding (kugelis) was unbaked and also cold from the outside (I assume it was warmed up in a microwave) thus we left it almost untouched. Staff apologized but that's it.
Dessert (panna cotta) tasted below average (left unfinished as well) therefore this place gets 1* and strong "do not go there" recommendation.

Had our lunch before we boarded the ferry to Juodkrante, see photos for our food choices. This was home cooked food and it was absolutely lovely. We were the only customers so got great service, friendly and smiley. Only small place but very very good. Fab.

It's very succesful and popular place in Lithuania to have fast sushi to go. Lithuanians love this place very much. We present most popular, fresh and healthy sushi. You will get big portion of sushi for very reasonable price and of course our stuff is very tourist friendly:) SEE YOU SOON!
