Reviewed By Lucia Helena AThe view of Itatiaia National Park and its boundaries is fantastic. The room we stayed was spacious, clean, and with a nice hot tub. The breakfast is a brunch, with the exquisite company of hummingbirds and other birds since food is placed at central points of the terrace for them. Do not hurry and enjoy this experience. The personnel is great, they really know the meaning of the phrase - what can I do for helping your stay to be wonderful?

nightmare holiday
Reviewed By ffvazI spent the carnival with my family there. It was not worth half the price we paid, because of the poor conditions of the chalets. The oven almost killed us twice; the linen were cheap and worn; the sofa had a big hole that prevented us from seating in it. All other guests we talked to were under similar conditions and very upset. Also the small road leading to the Pousada had passages covered with deep and large muddy puddles, and we and many others almost got stuck in there with our cars. I think the owner acknowledges the terrible conditions, because she required us to pay fully upfront on arrival even though we had already made a wire transfer for the reservation. This way, there was no way we could claim our money back or refuse to pay. All in all, we left some three days early despite having paid them in full. I have never undergone such thing in anywhere else. At least, despite overall bad conditions of the accomodations and the unfair charge and price, I must say that the staff itself was attentious and supportive nonetheless.

Clean room but need repair
Reviewed By Lucas CClean rooms. We got a big room with heater inside. Bathrooms need repair. Doors are old. Showers are old. The water tap are not working very well. Have 2 swimming pools, one outside with cold water and other with warm water inside. Have dry sauna. Be careful the coin you take to play in the games need to pay. Why need to pay for somewhere you already paid to stay and enjoy. Breakfast it's quiet good. But the first impression I got is not worth for the price. Have TV in the room but just few channels.

Reviewed By viajantemotoStaff is very helpful, some rooms have good space, while others are extremely small. Not all rooms have balconies, some of the ones that have a jacuzzi do not have balconies. Beds are not very comfortable, no amenities in the room like water, snacks or sodas. You have to order bottles of water at the front desk. Small flat TV in a bad position, no outlets to charge your phones, have to unplug the lamps beside the bed. Should be cheaper, rates are high / average breakfast, no tea available, only coffee and milk.

Comfortable and Affordable
Reviewed By James TThe hotel was great - the room itself was large, clean and the room was cleaned daily with fresh bedding and new towels. It is a very comfortable hotel with plenty of seating in the lounge areas. Although I couldn't speak any Portuguese the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Which I really appreciated. The breakfast was good and the lunch/dinner options were more than adequate. I would recommend the hotel, there are plenty of facilities, if you have to stay in Itatiaia but the town itself is completely dead. As said before try and stay in Penedo where there are far more restaurants and bars available. The atmosphere is far more welcoming and lively.

Reviewed By LyssMeloA nice quiet hotel, 5km from Penedo main street. It is located in well cared for property, with 18 chalets. All of them with AC, and Wifi. The rooms are simple but clean and working well. The greakfast is served in a big sallon. Not much varieties. Some fruits, but not well served. There are two outdoor pools. A nice place to stay.

Reviewed By Ruth TIf you are looking for noisy motorcycles passing by til late night, old gloomy chalets, irregular hot water (only in showers), non working WiFi, naked bulb lamps hanging from the ceiling, breakfast stated as til 10,30am but no reffil after 10am, clear demand for full settlement of the bill at check in, old tube TV with non working remote control, and very rude impolite owners You will get all the above and more at the Pousada Mon Desir.
