O Bouffon in Istres lies in a small street in the old town-center. Like other French restaurants cars can pass very near to you, but what is new in France? As a fact three cars passed in 2 hours.
Staff comes to your table, presents the menucard and starts conversation about your holiday, the weather, what is to do in Istres and of course what you would like to have as an aperitive ?
The first page of the menu welcomes you to Istres and the restaurant, nice.
A my supper I choose a small salad and an entrecôte. The beef they served was one peace of tender, jucy, slightly red meat, without parts that are attached to it by material what in other restaurants could hardly be cut ( and eaten ). The top of the five entrecotes I had this holiday.
No force is needed the cut of a peace and add some roquefort-sauce.
After dessert and coffee we were offered a small rum-fruit cocktail on the house. Sweet little heavenly drink.
We stayed for two and a halve hours at the location before we knew it.
They have a traditional (local) French kitchen with very reasonable prices.
By the way: O Bouffon means : At Bouffons, but you are lucky if you just find the place.

Beautiful views from the upper Terrace over the marina.
Excellent food, but somewhat expensive. Starters 15 euros plus Main courses starting at 21 euros with no set menu.
However main course plus a bottle of wine hit the spot !!
Only negative observation was that as it was outside the area had been hijacked by smokers as every table seemed to have a least one smoker !!

There was a festival going on in town so the place was crowded. Lots of people having a good time. We dined for lunch outside in the good weather. Service was okay but had to give them some slack because it was so crowded. We looked inside and it looked very nice and inviting inside as well. Food was very good. You just can't be in a rush when you dine in France or certainly in the south of France. It is a relaxing atmosphere designed to help you enjoy the food and wine. So plan to stay a while. This is worth a visit.

We tried the annex because they advertised modules which I fancied that day. The welcome was warm, the service excellent and my modules were splendid. My wife chose the hamburger and was impressed. It was good that we foreigners were made especially welcome by the chef who is well travelled and good company. For a better than usual light lunch I recommend it to all.

La crêpe forestière était très fade et la normande encore davantage.. le service quant à lui est d'une lenteur considérable. Une expérience non concluante. Le patron est par contre très gentil et commerçant mais cela ne suffit pas pour donner l'envie de revenir. Je suis venu 2 fois mais il n'y aura pas de 3 ème.

A nice Moroccan restaurant which is a good break from all France/pasta food in the area. A tasty introduction to this cuisine. There is parking just near the place which is very good as for the other restaurant s it is not easy to find

Do not miss coming to this lovely restaurant if you are anywhere close to Istres. We are only sorry we came to this restaurant at the end of our time here. It is undoubtedly a spectacular find! My husband and I both are their plate du jour. Mine was one of the best fish dishes I've ever eaten. It was a whole Mediterranean fish with olive oil and herbs. My husband had rabbit with a scalloped potato dish that unlike any we've had before. Outstanding!!!!!

Excellent burgers! Cold beer! Live bands on Friday and Saturday nights. What more could you ask fit from a pub! Oh, and they have Guinness!
