This is a great spot to stop for Mexican Food for lunch or dinner. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Before your meal you will enjoy the chips and salsa. All of the dishes are very good and well priced for what you get. I particularly like the enchiladas and tacos. You canât go wrong with anything you order.Service is quick and friendly. The ambiance is nothing special, but the food is.

I had a late lunch at Casa Chapala's Grill and it was quite tasty. There's a range of value depending on the type of food - an al pastor burrito suizo (cheese, but no red sauce) was good-sized and around $8, which was good. The food was really tasty. The chips and salsa that come to the table have two types of salsa - these are crunchier tortilla chips (a bit thicker), so they hold the salsa without an issue. Service was pleasant and the food came out quickly. Why not a five rating? Well, there was some kind of construction going on inside the restaurant where the dining was happening, so that was definitely a detractor from the experience. There were several TVs on and they were quite loud - another detractor for me. The patron that decided to talk at full volume on speakerphone in the middle of the restaurant - well, that's not really the restaurant's problem, so I'm not dinging them for that. I was told that there is a $1/taco Taco Tuesday at this place, so I'd like to take my family over and check that out. I expect great things, because the flavor of the food was really good.

If you're looking for really delicious & authentic home-style Mexican cooking, and if atmosphere isn't a top priority, look no further than El Burrito Bronco in Wheeling, IL. It's an ordinary looking storefront but looks are deceiving. The owner/chef is from Zacatecas and he tells me that his recipes come directly from his mother. The menu includes the standard items like tacos, tostadas, burritos but that's just the tip of the iceberg. They serve the absolute best tamales I've ever had (your choice of pork or chicken) - in the United States or in Mexico! (Be advised that they aren't always available so you may want to call ahead if that's the only reason you're going). On weekends they serve menudo (Mexican tripe soup) and Posole (Mexican hominy soup with big chunks of lean pork). In fact, I go there for lunch every Saturday specifically so I can enjoy a big bowl. I've had posole in many other restaurants in the Chicago area as well as in Mexico and this is far and away the best in my experience. They do excellent fish and seafood. There's a Friday special called Carne en su Jugo (Meat in its Juices) which is almost soup-like - lots of beef in a tangy, juicy sauce. Pollo al horno is a half chicken, oven roasted and served with potatoes and beans. (Big enough so you're almost guaranteed leftovers to take home. One of my favorites is Bistec ala Mexicana, strips of beef sautéed with onions, tomatoes and slices of jalapeño chiles. Breakfast dishes (they open at 9:00 AM) include the standard huevos ranchero and huevos ala Mexicana as well as eggs with strips of steak. All are delicious.Miguel, the owner of El Burrito Bronco, is a personable young man who loves to cook. His prices are a real bargain so, in addition to being served excellent food, you'll stay well within your budget. Capsule review: plain atmosphere, budget prices, really delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine!

Read a review of this restaurant and wanted to give it a try. We were not disappointed at all. Service was great and the food was outstanding. I had the Arrachera al Tequila, a delicious marinated skirt steak that I devoured. My companion had the Pescado Vallarta tacos which were equally delicious. Home made salsa started off the dinner on a good note. Music duo started when we left and it looked like the place would be jumping soon. If you are not into the music I would suggest getting there before 8:30, but then you would miss some wonderful authentic music. We will be back!

We didn't know what to expect at El Famous Burrito, but when we got there and ordered, we were really surprised. I ordered a ground beef burrito with avocado and it was huge. On Tuesdays, they offer a Taco Tuesday which are really reasonable and they are not small tacos. If you are in the area, this is a place to stop. The staff is efficient and the prices are reasonable. More importantly, the food is good.

Weekend evening -- management was welcoming and venue is colorful, but noisy.Large groups challenged server efficiency, prices were reasonable and portions were large. However, meal prep was not excellent. Guac was small serving and gummy, beef was tough and unseasoned, and other dishes were somewhat bland. Not bad, but not outstanding.
