We were really impressed with the service and food! The steak was so tender and served cubed on a sushi platter. We loved the different play on mainstream entrees. We will be back!

We've been coming here for several years, but for some reason it's not been listed on TripAdvisor [until now]. Reliably excellent raw fish, lovely miso soup, and decent cooked foods as well - although they really need to cut back on the sheer amount of sesame sauce they serve with the gomae. Friendly staff and management, and a quite, calm ambience contribute to a pleasant dining experience - certainly the best we've found in the area.

If you're spoiled by the sushi in LA, NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, Coast in Evanston will not disappoint. Especially if you're on the hunt for dishes that aren't always available, like toro and uni. The portions are generous and almost fresh enough to flap on your plate.

Seeker of the authentic culinary experience finds a variety of world cuisine in Evanston. Unfortunately, Koi serves a version of Asian food, somewhat adapted for American clientele that is diluted on flavor, and presentation. In our particular case, the service matched the underwhelming food in being numb and uninterested in the guest experience.Iâm so sorry to hear your unfortunate dining experience at koi. This is our favorite sushi place for years! It is quite small. It is family owned and the staff is friendly and efficient. The menu offers sushi plus other Japanese foods. Sushi is so creative and melt in your mouth fresh. Try their Tuna Tar Tar house specialty appetizer which is sharable.

This is a friendly and well-run restaurant. Prices are reasonable. I had the healthy combination that started with miso soup. The plate included a California roll, gomai (spinach, which I asked to have the sauce left off because it's a bit sweet), seafood salad with cucumbers, and ample tofu steak. My wife had the changpong, a spicy noodle dish that she found lacking.
