We went for lunch today based on its favorable reviews.Ordered a whole Nagel fish baked in salt. It is a native Red Sea fish that was very light and fresh. The restaurant is more like a beach restaurant , we had to walk a long way to reach Marina.Price are the same like the fish restaurant in Movenpick ,the manager tried to satisfy us as we told him that we expected much lower prices, we also complained to him about the flies .Dear Sir, Thank you for your visit to El Bahr, we are glad that you enjoyed our salt oven-baked Nagel, our signature dish!We are sorry to hear that you walked a long distance to reach us. El Bahr, is one of the few restaurants in El Gouna, directly on the beach, cozily snuggled between kite stations and Mangrove protected areas. Though, one can enjoy the walk on the beach from the Marina to El Bahr, the shortest way to reach us is by Tuktuk or by car. Unfortunately, El Bahr didnât seem to meet your expectations regarding prices. Let me assure you that our seafood selections are top choice, carefully selected for their freshness and high quality, for the pleasure of our esteemed guests. To guarantee such quality and freshness, our prices are fluctuating according to season. Daily market prices are written on the blackboard, above the fish and seafood display, in order to give our guests the opportunity to check it, while selecting their âcatch of the dayâ. We spotted the fish buffet advertised in the Marina - so called up to make a booking & very happy with the evening. Plenty of choice of fresh fish which you can select & then cooked for you & brought to table. Nice ambience in the restaurant & pleasant evening for a change of scenery from the Marina or downtown.

I had a great meal here with a friend, one of my new favourite restaurants in El Gouna. The staff were super friendly and attentive (really good for Egypt!) and the fish was beautifully cooked and fresh.Can recommend the large grilled prawns and octopus. Enjoy!

Hydra Sea Food Restaurant is located on the first floor, its balcony terrace overlooking Tamr Henna square every time of the day. Hydra is a fair seafood choice for lunch and dinner if you havenât set your standards to Guilt-Millau. In fact, Hydra are like so many other coastal and holiday resort seafood restaurants. Copy & paste menu but actually, you almost canât go wrong with the laid-back ambience.The staff are ok and do not hesitate to evaluate the menu with you to pick the right dish. Hydraâs prices are fair and so are there portions.

A bit small and cramped and had to use torch on phone to read menu and also it was a bit odd not being able to see what you were eating. On requesting a negroni my friend was told, âsorry we are not allowed to serve cocktailsâ! This is a tourist destination and not Cairo!!!The shrimp and avocado salad was overdressed and the avocado inedible. Considering that I can buy the most delicious avocados at my local vegetable store in Cairo was rather surprising! There was also a very strange flabby tasteless addition which neither of us knew what It was! There was far far too much lettuce but the shrimps were okay. However our pasta was delicious and I wish I had opted just for that. The poor waiter didnât really have a clue other than dissuading us from ordering the rigatoni contadina which he said he would not recommend! .They did eventually remove the shrimp salad from our bill! Not the best experience!

After a two-year break from El Gouna we were interested to see what if any changes had happened in the Marina area. The Maritim Restaurant at the entrance to the pedestrian area of the marina was still there and we stopped for a beer. The prices had risen considerably over the previous two years especially when compared to the prices in Down Town. It is however still a great place to sit and watch the comings and goings in the marina.
