A restaurant located right in the centre of Utoro, operated by the owners of the Taiseimaru fishing boat. The casual Japanese regional restaurant seats 20 and opens from 9am to 5pm. Friendly staff, with English menu available but no English spoken. Delicious seafood and shellfish. Sea urchin in the shell available, as is scallops and turban shell. Fish is air-dried and grilled. Meal for two, including a bottle of beer came to 1800 yen (US$15).

3 blocked table and 10+ empty. After asking 3 times we still get as reply that we can not get dinner because of no reservation. Unfriendly. Unprofessional.

The last supper in Shiretoko.So i tried to do something interesting, memorable, and different from hotel buffets. Sometimes everyday buffets can be tiring and less interesting, easy to over eat.I looked for seafood restaurant near by. Although i had a particular eatery in mind, it was booked the whole kitchen this evening. So i had to Google again!I tried walked by Prince Hotel, which also only offer buffet style.Then, my Google found this place. During the day time, all shops including this seafood restaurant seem CLOSED. So i worried even before i got there. As i see the light on! The 5 different types of sashimi in a bowl with rice was excellent with the freshness of the seafood. The mackerel with rice is also wonderfully grilled. It is one of our very satisfying lunch. Lovely and heavenly.

We drove to the pier, and had to do a double-take. Nestled among the other warehouses, Utoto Fishermans' Wives Co-operative Diner can be easily missed. It is a nice and quaint restaurant that serves that local catches, so you know that the seafood is going to be fresh and tasty. Try whatever is seasonal (we went when it was salmon season so the ikura was lovely), and just enjoy a lovely meal by the pier.

After driving a distance from Mombetsu to Abashiri, Tsuki is a good place for a stop for lunch or so and the food is of good quality. There is a car park outside the restaurant so it's convenient for car travellers. The picture menu is user-friendly for tourists who don't know Japanese. The sushi is fresh and tasty. Besides sushi, other hot dishes are also quite good such as steak.

Highly Recommended but prices are bit high but of course the ocean's catch of fresh fish, octopus, shrimps & scallops are very fresh. Ordered "kaizen don" meaning different variety of raw roe eggs, crab, shrimps toppings on rice and it cost a hefty 2,100 yen ( about $17)
