Skarsnuten hotel

Etween east and west, on the edge of a mountain shelf 1000 meters above sea level, you will find Skarsnuten Hotel. Majestically placed with a spectacular view over Hemsedal and the Mountains. The hotel has a modern Scandinavian design, with a pure expression and extensive use of natural materials. With us, good food and drink is an important part of the experience. The restaurant serves food and wine in harmony with friendliness and warmth. The nature surrounding the hotel invites to numerous experiences, summertime and wintertime. The ski center is our closest neighbor and our guests appreciates the fresh air and out door activities, both private visitors and guests belonging to a group or conference. The balance between modern architecture and good old fashion hospitality makes it easy to enjoy life at Skarsnuten..

Dinner started with self served soup, artichoke that was well received by all. Gave it a 4.
It was followed by Trout with white sauce and potatoes together with roasted veggies. Rated 4 by us.
Desert was a raspberry pie with some vanilla like cream, good pie with the right amount of crustiness and berries. Cream took it down from a 5 to 4. How hard is it to make vanilla cream that tastes good? Really.

In the evening its a restaurant With mainly pizza on the menu. Little People during the evening. Pizza quality is ok, but like Skigaarden on top of the slopes have much better pizzas.
To serve americano in a whiskey glass is just hopeless. All in all medium quality in this Place.

1100 meters above sea level, next to Hollvin Express chair, you will find Fjellkafeen. Enjoy a hot cup of cocoa and tasty waffles on our Terrace. We serve tasty, home made food the whole season.

Reviewed By Michael P - Hjärup, Skåne Län, Sweden

Only restaurant in the terrain.
Skiresorts in Norway tend to be smaller than most resorts in southern Europe and thus the number of restaurants in the terrain tends to be low.
Fjellkaféen is the only restaurant in the terrain (Technically Skarsnuten Hotel is in the terrain as well, and they have a restaurant), apart from the restaurants at the bottom.
You’ll find the restaurant at the top of the Hollvin Express lift.
It’s cafeteria style and they have a menu of hot food as well as sandwiches. You can also pop in for pastries and hot chocolate.
The quality is fair but nothing special. With some dishes they apply the cheap trick of filling up on ex. rice and they top it off with a little meat. In my book that’s always a bad move. No restaurant gains from that in the long run.
The staff is very friendly and most of them efficient. I assume we are talking seasonal workers and quality may differ slightly. 
If you are adjusted to Norwegian prices, I guess you’ll find the prices fair.
If you have just arrived, you’ll likely find the prices are a bit steep. You can make up for it by choosing a dish with salad, which you get yourself.
It is possible to sit outside, when the weather permits. This was not the case when we were here, but I would assume it’s fantastic on a sunny day.
If you prefer to bring your own food, it’s possible to enjoy this on the lower floor. It’s the basement but there is direct access from the left side of the building.
