Etween east and west, on the edge of a mountain shelf 1000 meters above sea level, you will find Skarsnuten Hotel. Majestically placed with a spectacular view over Hemsedal and the Mountains. The hotel has a modern Scandinavian design, with a pure expression and extensive use of natural materials. With us, good food and drink is an important part of the experience. The restaurant serves food and wine in harmony with friendliness and warmth. The nature surrounding the hotel invites to numerous experiences, summertime and wintertime. The ski center is our closest neighbor and our guests appreciates the fresh air and out door activities, both private visitors and guests belonging to a group or conference. The balance between modern architecture and good old fashion hospitality makes it easy to enjoy life at Skarsnuten..
The place is cool, the view fantastic, and the menu rather exciting, with a celebrity chef fronting. However, the service was not up to expectations. Long time before we were given the menus, and the water and drinks took ages to get. The bread came...MoreSorry to hear that the service was not up to expectations, and we are thankful for the criticism that we reciewe so we can get even better.

Hemsedal Café is located in the heart of Hemsedal City Center, and was established in 1989. In wintertime, you can ski down the "centrum slope" from the top of Hemsedal Ski Center and right down to the cafe. Free ski bus stops regularly on the outside. Lift ticket is available at the Tourist Office across the street. Hemsedal Café is the natural venue for the snow people. The story is still in the walls, and you immediately get the feeling of all the memorable nightlife experiences that have been delivered here for over 25 years. We were left hanging or 10 minutes watching a staff member making coffee before we were told to just grab a many and fins a place to sit, not very service-minded. the food arrived fast and it was ok, a plus for the trout.

Located in the town centre of Hemsedal at Skogstad Hotel. Top-class gourmet cooking is served in this a la carte restaurant, focusing on local delicacies. With an open kitchen and Panorama view over Hemsedal by night, the atmosphere is special.
Food first evening
Menu said pee soup and that was rated 2 among 3/4 trying it.
Menu said Chicken Curry + tomato sauce was pork in tomato soup without any particular taste, pretty dry meat. Nobody finished. Rated 2 by us. Prewarned by next table on the food.
Food second day
Breakfast was excellent. Had everything we expected with quick refills. Rated 5 by us.
Dinner started with self served soup, artichoke that was well received by all. Gave it a 4.
It was followed by Trout with white sauce and potatoes together with roasted veggies. Rated 4 by us.
Desert was a raspberry pie with some vanilla like cream, good pie with the right amount of crustiness and berries. Cream took it down from a 5 to 4. How hard is it to make vanilla cream that tastes good? Really.
Food third day
Breakfast was excellent. Had everything we expected with quick refills. Rated 5 by us. More bacon would give a plus.
Starter was fishsoup, self served. Lacking fish though, but decent. Rated 3
Main course was beef with dark sauce with artistic touches of pea dots around. Served with some kind of mashed potato ball, possibly cooked. Nice and tender beef, bit sweet sauce. Rated 4
Desert was brownie with chopped strawberries. Kids loved it. Total rating of 4.
Staff was friendly and responsive at all times.

Located in the base area of Hemsedal Skisenter. Lunch service. Our outdoor service opens with the early spring sun in March. Skistua serves breakfast during morning skiing and is open during evening skiing as well.
Of all the restaurants available at the bottom of lifts (there are 3) Skistuan has the best food, quickest services and super friendly staff. The decor isn't as good as the restaurant in the ski centre but the food is far superior. Mad party place...MoreHi Anki, Nice to hear that you had a good visit at Skistua. Hope you`ll find time to visit us in the near future. Best Regards Emil Jonsson

This is a large cafe/restaurant in the bottom of the slopes in Hemsedal Skicenter. Very busy during daytime With buffet in one part and cafe in the other part. In the evening its a restaurant With mainly pizza on the menu. Little People during the evening. Pizza quality is ok, but like Skigaarden on top of the slopes have much better pizzas.
To serve americano in a whiskey glass is just hopeless. All in all medium quality in this Place.

1100 meters above sea level, next to Hollvin Express chair, you will find Fjellkafeen. Enjoy a hot cup of cocoa and tasty waffles on our Terrace. We serve tasty, home made food the whole season.
Only restaurant in the terrain.
Skiresorts in Norway tend to be smaller than most resorts in southern Europe and thus the number of restaurants in the terrain tends to be low.
Fjellkaféen is the only restaurant in the terrain (Technically Skarsnuten Hotel is in the terrain as well, and they have a restaurant), apart from the restaurants at the bottom.
You’ll find the restaurant at the top of the Hollvin Express lift.
It’s cafeteria style and they have a menu of hot food as well as sandwiches. You can also pop in for pastries and hot chocolate.
The quality is fair but nothing special. With some dishes they apply the cheap trick of filling up on ex. rice and they top it off with a little meat. In my book that’s always a bad move. No restaurant gains from that in the long run.
The staff is very friendly and most of them efficient. I assume we are talking seasonal workers and quality may differ slightly.
If you are adjusted to Norwegian prices, I guess you’ll find the prices fair.
If you have just arrived, you’ll likely find the prices are a bit steep. You can make up for it by choosing a dish with salad, which you get yourself.
It is possible to sit outside, when the weather permits. This was not the case when we were here, but I would assume it’s fantastic on a sunny day.
If you prefer to bring your own food, it’s possible to enjoy this on the lower floor. It’s the basement but there is direct access from the left side of the building.

Kjøkkenkroken is by far the best restaurant in Hemsedal. Small cosy restaurant in the city center. Food is always good here. We come here every time we visit Hemsedal. Service little up and Down, but normally good. Could have better wine selection and correct temperature on red wines.
