Whether sitting by the pool or beach, walking the trails, or partying it up play the pool bar with Henry. It’s plenty clean and well kept. Loved the hills, served a substitute for working out. The guys at the beach were not that bad at all, you tell them no and they stop asking. Actually Leo was very helpful to us and we went on a great jet ski tour with his company. If you are looking for the four seasons it’s right across the bay. But if your looking for a well kept beautiful property with an A+ staff to take care of anything you need and have a great time meeting other like minded fun loving people, THIS IS YOUR PLACE!!! Excellent Hotel
Reviewed By cm19w5My cousin and I spent 1 week at this hotel and just recently left. We did not upgrade to Star Class and contrary to some other reviews if you do not have Star Class you will not be treated like a step child. We received a lot of attention from staff and any queries or questions we had they were quick to assist. We rented a Cabana for 2 days and had a spa treatment. We received a coupon booklet at check in for booking PH experiences. We got to eat at all restaurants on property. So overall we do not feel as though we missed out or anything at all by not upgrading to Star Class. The rooms were clean and modern. The closet door was broken once reported someone came to fix it with 5 minutes and we never had a problem after. The staff were super friendly and accommodating 24/7. Truly a happy bunch. Shout to to Dillan, from the pool wait team and Negar from the entertainment team. The only con, I would say is that the resort is in a bit more isolated part of Liberia and entertainment and everything else ceases at 11pm. So if you are someone who loves nightlife and partying this is not the resort for you.

Reviewed By PoioChanchoI stayed at the Occidental Papagayo with my family , and had a magnificent time. The facilities are beautiful and the view is amazing. The staff was polite and the entertainment crew was super nice , they work as a team to keep you busy and make sure you have nothing but fun . I'm definitely visiting again in the near future . Improvements I'd like to see ... Maybe some sort of app where you can make reservations for the restaurants , see and enroll for the activities .

All Inclusive Beach Front Boutique Resort of 50 rooms located within 22 acres of Tropical Dry Forest in front of Playa Panama in the spectacular Gulf of Papagayo area, just 20 minutes from Liberia International Airport in Guanacaste. This Resort has two swimming pools, two jacuzzis, two wet bars, a Sports Bar, two restaurants, spa services, concierge, among other services.

The windows don't seal shut, and the drawers are slightly warped and you have to slam them to get them to stay closed. We usually didn't have hot water to take showers, but of course it was 95 degrees outside so I guess didn't really matter. The lights in the rooms are also very dim for some reason so its just dark at night. The beds were pretty comfortable. With all that said, the AC worked great and the rooms were large and very clean. Housekeeping did a outstanding job every day. The grounds are beautiful. The pools are lovely and are cleaned every day. There are howler monkeys always around and beautiful birds. There isn't much of a lobby and no AC so it's not that pleasant during the day to spend any time there. The hotel staff was AMAZING. Like beyond! There wasn't anything they wouldn't do for you. The beach wasn't that pretty. Its a public beach and no lounge chairs or anything. W went for a walk a few times that's.about it. If you aren't overly fussy, the hotel is perfectly fine. Especially if you are spending your days doing activities and trips. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was great and like I said the AC in the rooms was perfect! The newer rooms were much nicer so I would book there.

Day and evening entertainment, as well as our Pacha Discotheque. For lovers of gastronomy, we offer live cooking stations at our main restaurant, Japanese, Italian, Fusion restaurant and Steakhouse, as well as 6 bars and our Cappuccino patisserie & ice cream parlor.
Day 1 already unsolvable problems, pretty disappointing but some good points
Reviewed By 827martenmJust so you know, we're disappointed. It's big & impersonal & that's reflected in the staff (in keeping with other comments), which is not the Costa Rica that we know). It is very clean with lots going on (it's not for you if you want peace). Problem 1 It's advertised as free WiFi. However, eception have just confirmed, it doesn't work in bedrooms, you might get it on the balcony but signal is only good in common areas? That's a problem, especially for people needing contact with European or Asian time zones. Not brilliant in 2022 but the receptionist just shrugged their shoulders: it is what it is apparently. I'm a director of a UK business placing our largest contract ever so all my research & WhatsApp calls are in common areas. Problem 2 The room safe only has 1-6 & 0 buttons working plus maintenance replaced its batteries. Security came quick but you should be getting a picture by now, Riu's focus could be argued to be profits, not staff, not checking details or replacing defective kit. Problem 3 We're travelling with two teenagers they are not happy about the wifi not one bit. Their and our TV is very very grainy. The receptionist said its across the whole compex - they've been trying to fix it for hours so far unsuccessfully. You might be able to imagine how the TV & especially the WiFi issue is impacting what should have been a memorable family CR holiday on a relaxing high note. We've been to Riu resorts in Europe & they care there so we are disappointed and are taking the trouble to warn others. Good points are cleanliness, the gym (excellent), pools and apart from the above, the rooms. Our CR trip was outstanding till we came here. Shame on Riu
