Escale de Chine

All too often Asian food in France is disappointing and this was another to add to a long list. The starters were ghastly- ‘dumplings ‘ and fish beignets. The dumplings were like very thick-walled, deep-fried sausage rolls and the beignets were just small pieces of fish in batter. I’d ordered salt and pepper prawns for my main. They were large, in their shells, completely dried out and tasteless. There was no sauce and no option to order one in the menu. My daughter had duck in five spice but the meat was tough and there was little evidence of any five spice. Chinese cabbage with mushroom was probably the best of the three dishes and it wasn’t great either. Not recommended.
