Grassroots Ice Cream

We know our ice cream shop is different from what most people are used to. We are an artisan ice cream shop. We experiment constantly with countless flavors always tweaking and improving. We use natural extracts, and real food to flavor our ice cream. We scoop 36 flavors at any one time and when one box runs out we put in another flavor. So some of our flavors may change 3 or 4 times a day! We love that. We never want to become the typical ice cream shop that scoops the exact same 15 flavors every day. Change is what we love and change makes us who we are...Grassroots Ice cream for the people.

Han Asian Cuisine

Reviewed By wanbee - new england

Han is unique in this area of Chinese/Asian restaurants for a "mix and match" menu. This allows you to choose any number of sauce preparations with the main ingredient. For instance, you can order Crispy Sesame Sauce with Chicken, Beef, Tofu, Shrimp, Scallop, or Calamari. Like-wise for General Tso's, Szechuan Peppercorn, Kong Pao, and four other sauces. There is a good selection of apps - we always enjoy the fried pork and veggie dumplings and Hot and Sour Soup.
I also enjoy the Mei Fan noodles. These are angel hair rice noodles - they have a different texture and slightly different flavor than wheat flour noodles. Chow Fan noodles are wide rice noodles - thick and somewhat more chewy.
They also have a full sushi menu - it has always been fresh and tasty.
Great variety for Asian/Chinese food.

For northern CT, I guess its ok. Lots of varieties, but these bagels aren't going to give Long Island a run for its money any day. Brisk service, but prices are a bit steep for sandwiches. Plenty of coffee varieties in decanters.

We received great service. The pizza was big! (we ordered a medium and it looked like a large!) Being pizza aficionados, we didn't have a problem with that! Our only complaint would be that Little City totally lacks atmosphere...but understandably they keep many local families very happy!

J & G Restaurant & Lounge

The reviews were very good. Its probably a good place for pizza, but we didn't order pizza. The soup of the day, the salmon and the meat ravioli were all pretty mediocre. The wine was drinkable but nothing special.

The owner greeted us very warmly when we arrived. But our server was very testy and often could not be found.

Present Company

Reviewed By Thomas L - Hartford, Connecticut

I just returned from my first time at Present. It occupies the same space previously occupied by the fine dining establishment known as 21T in Tariffville (part of Simsbury,CT). Present offers country French cuisine in a casual atmosphere inside an old paper mill. The food was very good and the service excellent. My wife ordered an unusual vegetarian dish
, choi farci, with broccoli prepared with a garlicy flavoring and with crispy flowers. The broccoli accompanied a cabbage leaf stuffed with an exquisite mixture of julienne vegetables in a lentil puree. My daughter ordered the Hen au vin with incredibly tender and flavorful chicken breast. I ordered the pate bonne femme, foir gras surrounded by mushrooms ( a variety I had never seen before) and pork filet. Finally I ordered the Casoulet, incredibly tender slow-cooked lamb shoulder with white beans. All these entrees were cooked slowly to perfect the flavor of what might be described as inexpensive cuts of meat. We tried two of the desserts. The first was an apple tart with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. The second was "floating islands", soft meringue in a crème anglaise sauce. Both were excellent. We ordered a fine bottle of red wine unique to this menu. This was Thursday night when the bottles were half price. Service was professional, attentive and knowledgeable. They were very accommodating to my gluten intolerance. If you are looking for very good food that you have not tried before, this restaurant is an excellent choice.

@ The Barn

Reviewed By Jaimye L - Enfield, Connecticut

This was our first visit. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The menu had a great variety, however there was some confusion from the staff because it had just been updated. We stuck with the basics and ordered the rib eye and filet. Both were good size portions, but not of the quality i would expect for the price. I also had to send the filet back because it was undercooked from how I had ordered. There was also some more confusion around the new menu with desserts. My chocolate mousse with whipped cream ending up coming with a middle layer of either strawberry or raspberry cream (I couldn't get a good answer). Needless to say I went without. I will consider trying again because the other menu items seemed enticing and not as over-price.

The Sweet Beet

Had a wonderful and healthy lunch, wonderful selection for eating in or taking home, all vegan and gluten free including a number of desserts. I had a very tasty bean chili and a no-egg salad sandwich on an excellent, locally made gluten free bread. I eat eggs, but you could really not tell this sandwich was not true egg salad.

Had the snickerdoodle for dessert, spiced cake was fantastic as was the icing. Again, all gluten free and vegan.

Try it out if you like to eat healthy, everyone there was so helpful and friendly. Many selections of juices pressed to order.

Dunkin' Donuts

Reviewed By biztrav123 - Avon, CT

This must be where they send the "C" team, let alone the "B" team. Generally brusque service, lack of attentiveness. Have gone in several times ordering bagel sandwiches or bagel with C/C and asked for "toasted dark....burn it", only to find a barely warmed bagel in my bag when i get back to the car. Have avoided them for all bagel purchases since.

Today, when I went to the drive through, I asked for a coffee and two donuts, realizing that it was a combo on the board, combo 1 for $3..49, I said, "oh, sorry, that's a combo number one". I pulled up and was charged $4.14 instead of approx $3.74. I explained to the woman at the window that the combo was $3.49 and should not total $4.14 she said "that's the way it rings up". Explained it was incorrect and teh price was $3.49. Again, i get "well, that's what it says". I said, it should be $3.74 not $4.14....if the price is wrong on the sign, you need to change the sign". I get "well, that's the manager's problem".

Nice........

Not going back. I pass 4 Dunkins on the way to work....I'll use any ot them before this one.
