We had Sunday lunch at the Stand House recently. It was only fabulous. The menu is extensive and of Mitchlin Star standard, (well the Chef is ex Chapter 1 !!). The service was attentive and pleasant. The staff are supportive of each other and multi task. The staff in the restaurant are eqaully so and inviting. Reception staff are also pleasant, personable and engaging. The price is very reasonable both in the bar and restaurant
It is great to see people investing in high premise spec and quality staff / food, especially in smaller towns, where foot fall has to won over. This is a venue that is worthy of its praise and a place worth making the effort to visit.

Went for family lunch. Ordered soup, waited almost 25 minutes. When we finally got out food the soup was inedible as it was severally over salted. The bread that came with the soup was homemade but burned black, with lumps of flour throughout as it hadn't been mixed. Cutelry was dirty as were the glasses our water came in.
The toasted special was lovely though.

Called in while passing through Thomastown. Tiny cafe, quite cramped at table. Had panini with organic mushroom soup followed by chocolate cake and coffee. Just delicious. Service with a smile also! Saw a lady come in with two small children. They were immediately given colours and colouring book! Lovely touch!
Do visit!

Me and my friend both ordered the prawn and avacado salad. We requested no dressings or sauce as we were on our new paleo diet so the lovely waitress asked if we would like extra salad to which we both enthusiastically accepted!! We then received two or three leaves of iceberg lettuce with tiny prawns sprinkled ontop. Oh and 1 cherry and a half tomato each. No avacado and absolutely no extra salad. Unless we were only possibly meant to gey two leaves of iceberg lettuce initially. My other friend ordered omlette which when it arrived my 11yr old daughter exclaimed "my god thats a really small omlette"! We sent back our prawn and avacado dishes to get some avacado and received them back with 1 half an avacado each. We were then charged 8 euro for the pleasure. Absolutely delightful cafe and i regularly visit inistioge but will be dining elsewhere for lunch in future.

Last time we were here we were a little disappointed and felt the quality of the food had dropped, but we had been told by a knowledgeable local the old owners were back again. Whether that's fact or fiction I can't say but what I do know was the the quality of the food has gone back up again to its previous high standard. As usual staff were friendly and efficient. No complaints this time, we look forward to our next visit.
