Glastonbury Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Glastonbury

July 24, 2017 Jasper Kershner

Generally a quiet place graced with lovely terrain for strolling, Glastonbury is very busy in the summer because of its music festival. Best known for contemporary music, the festival has attracted almost 200,000 people in recent years (whereas Glastonbury's full-time population is only 9,000 or so). There are a number of historical monuments to see in the area, including Glastonbury Lake Village, Glastonbury Abbey and the Somerset Rural Life Museum. We can't say that the weather is always good, but on a sunny day you can't go wrong!

Went on a Thursday for their curry buffet night. Welcoming staff and two real ales on the bar. Pappadoms and pickles to start and, on our visit, the curries were Burmese style - one chicken, one fish, one (unbelievably good) beef, one spicy vegetable accompanied by rice and naan bread. All very tasty!
Went the following Thursday for a drink en route to somewhere else and the delicious looking curries were Malaysian style, but couldn't stop. Will go again soon, though!

We had arrived in Glastonbury after driving for over 5 hours so just wanted something quick so we could go back to our digs and have a rest. Food was served quickly. We only had a veggie pizza (it was very nice) salad and garlic bread and a bottle of the house red so weren't big spenders and I did feel that the waiters were a bit dismissive because of this however the food was lovely and the service was quick.

We came for a weekend visit to Glastonbury.
Not so much of a choice for eating but we ended up here after our first day.
We all ordered lamb shank and I have to say that that was good. Well done and tasty.
Wine wasn't that good but drinkable.
Place was quite packed so to me this is normally good sign because we were here outside tourist and visitor season.
Service was on good average nothing bad to say but nothing extremely good either. Place to eat, drink and enjoy.

This is a very good fish & chip takeaway and restaurant, and an extra attraction for me is their stocking Roger Wilkins' excellent cider, a very tasty local drink. On this visit I was served a big portion of chips but I thought the fish a bit small. It could well be that many customers have smaller appetites than me so this might avoid waste. The fish was very tasty.
They stock some vegetarian dishes, but I only get to eat here when my vegan wife is not with me :(

This is my 3rd visit to Glastonbury but 1st here. In general I find Glastonbury restaurant prices highly overpriced but not here where the quality is high at an affordable price. We had the king prawn purée and mixed kebab starters, both delicious followed by chicken bhuna and chicken Afghani ( never had this dish before) all washed down with a bottle of Chenin Blanc. We couldn’t manage a desert too but left highly satisfied with the quality of the food, service and price

Sorry to say this but it has gone downhill since our last visit
1. Dirty tables and floor, cutlery dirty
2. Schitchel burger lacking flavour and boring use to be packed with flavour and other goodies over priced at nearly £6
3. Dogs at counter not left outside
4. Very slow service very pricey
Will not be returning
Must of changed hands
So sorry about review but so disappointed

Haven't done this for a few years now but, having visited the murmurations on the levels behind Glastonbury, then go on to have an early New Year's Eve meal at this restaurant - taking different friends each time. And again, was not disappointed and neither were my friends. Absolutely delicious food and the staff, as ever, are polite and attentive. So glad to have gone back after a break.
