We wandered in on a Tuesday night and was surprised at how crowded this place was in November! It was a testament to the food for certain!

Steaks were awesome as were the sides as well. Definitely worth the stop and we will definitely be back.

We were passing through and we were hungry. That's all it took!
Very homey feel. A bit outdated but in a good way.
Service was fantastic! Felt like we were at home and Grandma was cooking!
Our server was very nice and accommodating.
Their "World Famous Cinnamon Rolls" were well worth the $3.99 price tag, considering that they weighed about 3 pounds! HUGE!

Please support this little local hot spot if you are in the area.

Rapid River Dairy Flo

We stop by the Dairy Flo after we have dinner at one of the local restaurants because there is no better dessert. They have high school girls working who are all very personable. The menu is large from ice cream cones to sundaes, to shakes. Our favorite is the Hot Fudge Malt. It is delicious. Don't miss this little store as you travel through Rapid River

Freshwater Tavern

Enjoy comfort food with a twist with a panoramic view of Lake Michigan in our newly renovated waterfront dining room.

Reviewed By DownInThe906 - Gladstone, Michigan

Freshwater Tavern's food is on par with big city restaurants with a lot nicer views! The price is on the higher side for this area - but for the quality, view and service, it is worth it.

My husband and I shared their appetizer special (Scottish Hard-boiled Egg) which was amazing. Seriously. If you are here and it is on the menu, please order it. I never even considered tasting something like this (a hard boiled egg encrusted in sausage and then deep fried?!). Get it. Why hadn't I eaten this sooner?!

Their house salad was delicious as was their Cheddar ale Soup (the tastiest I have had - and I've had my share of Cheddar Ale soups). This was accompanied by their bread basket which contained a variety of breads and was served with whipped butters of varying flavors. (I was full at this point in the meal).

The entrees were also very good. My husband had their Bangers and Mash (A St. Patty's Day Special) of which I tasted. VERY good. I had their fillet with a side of green beans. I loved it!

They also have a wonderful craft beer menu and cocktail menu. Their Raspberry Grapefruit Margarita was light and refreshing!

Rosy's Diner

Reviewed By Mikeshy - Aurora, Ohio

We stopped at Rosy’s while passing through Escanaba. We try to plan our trips so that we can stop at Rosy’s for break or lunch. This time it was lunch. While it was good and the banter with Rosy was great, we felt that breakfasts are better. We both had the daily specials; my wife had the chicken dumpling soup and I had the beef stew. Both were good, but, not as good as we expected. The soup was all dumplings with little chicken and the stew was too thick, without any gravy.

Swallow Inn

Went for a fish fry, which was okay (seemed a little pricey for the mediocre service and poor environment). Man, I expected Billy The Kid to come through the bar. It was darkish and they just did not seem to care that the place needed a makeover to be more "presentable," On a positive note, the salad bar was substantive.

Decided to give this place a try based on the advice of a former local. Walked in an ordered a pizza to go. There are not a vast variety of toppings but there was enough that was sufficient. While waiting, ordered a beer. Bartender was nice. Got the pizza back to my room. The dough was fantastic and very authentic. However, there was very little sauce and the sauce didn't have enough of flavor. If there was more sauce and it was better, I would have rated this higher.

Swedish Pantry

Reviewed By durrae j - Bozeman, Montana

We were told to make sure we didn't miss this on our trip to the Upper Peninsula, and are so glad we listened. We got the feeling that this was true Swedish food and atmosphere, and it was wonderful. My husband had a stuffed dumpling dish that he likened to what he had enjoyed in Europe, and I headed for the Swedish pancakes, a sort of crepe, but couldn't pass on the potato pancakes, so had both (I did get a to-go box).
The atmosphere was cafe-gone-colorful and all wall space was filled with clocks (I believe each was for sale). Service super, food great, fun and funky surroundings--don't pass this up when in Escanaba.

When I saw their menu online, I thought it was going to be typical, greasy bar food. Surprisingly, it wasn't greasy. I had the breaded cauliflower, chicken sandwich and upgraded to the onion rings. All were quite good. The chicken had great flavor and was very moist and tender. If you are on the road and need a quick bite, stop by. You will not be disappointed.
