Stopped at S&S on a whim with some friends on the way back to Jnb from Magailesburg - couldn’t have made a better choice. The restaurant is essentially on an open air (with roof) porch looking into their rustic backyard / farm. Just a really chilled out retro vibe, with some light music in the background.Menu is several types of meat/veg pies, risotto balls, burger, salads, various seeds and youghurt items, juice drinks, squash-like soups, etc. all made fresh.Across 6 ppl I think we covered most of the menu and everyone loved what they got. I personally had the pies and potato wedges, which were great. We tried all four desserts, and while all 4 were actually great - I thought the rhubarb custard and the coconut pudding were exceptional. The chocolate cake with compote was good as well. All in, with 6 drinks, 6 mains, and four desserts the bill came to ZAR 1180 (plus tip).Played bocce in the yard and just generally relaxed. Would absolutely recommend a trip out to try. Thank you Zach, it was a blessing to have you all here at S&S. Looking forward to welcoming you back.

An evening with family down from the Cape to attend a wedding in Magaliesburg, the Black Horse was a recommendation. Service was good, atmosphere and ambiance really good. Food & food quality not particularly good. My steak was cold as was most of the other meals served. When we requested the desert menu we were informed the kitchen closes at 9:30. It was shortly after 9:30. A real disappointment.

The food is freshly prepared and it's worth enjoying the experience.
