Cafe & Restaurant Kongens Have

Went to the restaurant together with friends - Munch encouraged by the Nice pictures with White linen on the tablets and a cosy setting. We made a reservation in good time and were even reminded on SMS on the day, so we were quite disappointed when we arrived an were given the only table in the room with no tablecloth- and even worse- instead of chairs we were offered stools- chairs with no back. The waiter told us they were aware that tho owner wants the layout of the restaurant to include such poor seats. My comment is that if they can send out a reminder Sms they can also inform guests about any shortage of decent seating The personnel were aware - before our arrival - that we were heading for the 5 course menu which is not a 30 mins session. At the end we spent three and a half hours in uncomfortable seatings, and that is not good enough. The food...?Actually good without being fantastic - wine menu was a bit disappointing with not much wine - or positive surprises. All in all: based on the poor seating I will look for better option next week when I go out in Odense!Final comment: during the last course the restaurant prepared for closure around us while we were eating - after spending this kind of money in a restaurant I expect more respect when eating.

Bread and buns are all made on the premises and you can watch the baker at work. They are always fresh so they must go out at a high rate. A great place to stop for bun and cheese, coffee, a marzipan or cinnamon bun and a catch up on the free wifi. And take a loaf of bread or a family size tart home for dinner.

It is now the fourth or the fifth time, that the whole family has been here and everytime we enjoy the superb coffee and the retro interior of this untraditional café/coffeebar.We feel welcome everytime and since we usually bring the baby stroller with us, this is one of the few places where we can put either it just next to us or in the corridor, without any judgement from the staff. We have tried their cake and sandwich. Cake is very good and highly recommendable. The sandwich is more plain but has a good size and will satisfy your hunger no matter how big.Service is great. Usually just the owner himself behind the counter and he is always up for a good coffee talk or what ever comes to mind.Beware of the slightly changed opening hours during the wintertime.Should I have one point where the place could improve is that there is no WIFI, which would be handy when enjoying a great cup of coffee.

I made a visit to Cafe Fleuri for coffee and cake. This is a very special place - Cafe Fleuri looks like no other cafe. It has plenty of atmosphere and feels like a little corner of Paris in Odense. Their garden is particularly great. The only slightly negative thing is the prices - everything is organic and you certainly pay for it. But highly recommendable if you want to try something different than a regular Danish cafe.

Located in the backyard just a minutter from the pedestrian street and the heart of town, the small and cozy place og Kosmos can be found. It's a small place which serves burgers with sides as well as soft drinks, beers and coffee. If you order a side of potatoes with a burger, you get a discount on the potatoes - and they are very tasty. They have different burgers, and you can order multiple small versions og the burgers to get a taste and decide which one you'd like to order as a full meal (the minis are not free, naturally). The staff is friendly and speaks Danish as well as English. The staff is happy to discuss recipies and share knowledge/ideas. When I visited, the place was full and only one chef were at work, but the wait was nomore than aproximately 15 mins. It is possible to order a table reservation. They have a few tables outside as well in case of nice weather.

We stumbled upon this place while visiting Odense. The ambiance is charming, with great views of the street and interesting decor. The staff is friendly, yet still professional and the food was outstanding. I went with the open faced roast beef while my wife opted for the grilled chicken sandwich. Portions were generous and flavorful. I don't imagine that we will ever be back in that part of the world, but if we were, we would certainly drop by again. We have a great memory of a terrific meal in a cozy setting.

What more can I say; great food, a nice atmosphere and a warm welcome. The waiter was one of the best i‘ve ever had, as a viennese you‘re noticing this instantly, because in Vienna waiters normally have a, what i call, viennese grumpiness in their genes. Ah and the prices were reasonable. So what keeps you from going there? Thanks! We really make an effort to make everyone happy.
