Wonderful hostel

The eco lodge is situated in a brilliant area, surrounded by trees, and local wildlife. You don't realise how big the place is until you go round the back to where the rooms are located. Our rooms was a double room which had tea, coffee, kettle and fridge facilities. The room was immaculate, and super comfy. There was an air-conditioning unit in the room. The bathroom facilities were located a couple of rooms down and these were spotless. There is a lovely BBQ area with good seating area, its surrounded by trees and garden. The Common seating area and kitchen is comfy with plenty of space to cook your meals. The eco lodge is situated 5 mins walk to the esplanade, where there is cafes and pubs. There is a Wetside water park not far from the eco lodge. We cycled past, it only took 10 minutes if that! The beach is lovely, you can walk one way for 6km and 6km the other direction. We found a brewery " Cauldron Brewing". Excellent place, lovely ales, lagers and ciders. We cycled here which only took 15minutes. Don't forget to try the pie shop. "Pie& Pastry Paradise". Wow they are great pies! We took the ferry over the Frasier island and walked to Lake McKenzie. Such a beautiful place. We would stay again at the Woolshed Eco Lodge, as its in a great location, the owners Megan and Brent are really nice and helpful.

Stay at Pippies + 3 Day Fraser Island Tour

Reviewed By KyleNickel

I stayed at the hostel the night before, as well as a 3 day Fraser Island tour. Pros: >Saw lots of the island >Excellent camp set up >Fun, easy-to-drive vehicles >Knowledgeable guide, who set us up to have lots of fun Cons: >Not much attention to safety - there were no sober people at camp at all (in a campsite with no cell coverage and only a central landline phone), and no plan was clearly communicated for first aid, overintoxication, etc, so not really prepared for an emergency >Extra food (mainly vegetables, but still) was just thrown into the bush by the campsite - seems unfortunate to come to a beautiful place and then contribute to the degradation of the ecosystem, and it doesn’t take an ecologist to realize that’s the wrong thing to do Overall, a good tour if you are really looking to party. Great staff and overall a satisfying tour. However, some pretty glaring shortcomings in safety in the camp (no designated sober first aiders or drivers, no plan communicated to people on the tour). Also unfortunate to improperly dispose of food on an island where the pristine nature is the main draw. Also, if you are staying in the hostel, insist on staying in the actual guesthouse - a huge difference in quality between the guesthouse and the extra dorm rooms tacked onto the place.

AMAZING hostel experience!!

Best hostel experience ever!! Awesome location in Rainbow Beach and right next to the Greyhound bus stop which was so convenient! Stayed here for 3 nights with a group of friends and we did not want to leave! The rooms were a dream - always clean, air-con was perfect and en-suite bathroom was fantastic. The Fraser Island tour that ran out of the hostel was insane and considering I had already visited Fraser Island before, I could not have asked for a better experience. The hostel provided free breakfast that catered for everyone in the mornings and the staff were so efficient at getting us checked in. Thank you so much to Lettie, Auryn, Amanda and Simone for being so helpful and even coming for a drink with us after work, we had the best time!! The Dingos bar attached to the hostel had great deals on drinks and some super fun events on every night like bingo and trivia so there was never a dull moment, and the hammocks dotted around the place were a lovely treat after a few days camping on the beautiful Fraser Island. THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!

AVOID!!! REFUSED AS AM VACCINATED AGAINST COVID!

Reviewed By Bruce f

BOOKING WAS REFUSED - because I am vaccinated against COVID!! Avoid this place, unless you like being bombarded with conspiracy theories owner wants to spread!! He's quite forceful in his fringe views. Can wreck a peaceful holiday!! After doing research on places in Hervey Bay, chose Mango as it is small & I love old wooden houses. Tried to book a dorm bed... BOOKING WAS REFUSED - because I was fully vaccinated against COVID!! Not what anyone would expect! Very unpleasant & possibly against the law!! Lodged a formal complaint with MP & Queensland Health Dept. Being investigated! Am considering legal action. So glad I didn't pay through a booking site, & then find out I would have to leave because I was vaccinated!! So bad! Walked past this very empty place. So glad I had a 5star stay at the Woolshed, along same road. ______________________________ SMS 4/8/21 received in response to my call to book. (Personal details omitted.) Mango: Okay mate text back your name, dates & room type that you require ? Don't book online, just respond By text Me: Thanks. (my name) Will arrive Friday to stay up to a week. Will be Dorm bed. Mango: where will you be travelling from that day ? Me: On Magnetic Island last 18 days. (Fully vaccinated) Mango: Oh ! Are you considered in the high risk group ? Me: No. Just want to be safe. I like to travel. Have been travelling overseas for years. Mango: According to the correct health advice you're less safe now from any ailment into the future, I think a private room might be more suitable, the W.H.O. due to the vaccine being still under trial, have an interim advice that I can send you, stating no proof of vaccination will be required for international travel Me: Although your rooms look great, Dorm bed is my usual stay. Currently in a Dorm room for 18 days. So Dorm is my preference. Mango: Governments have only been following advice from the W.H.O. any thing else is hearsay. Advice from Germany states, These experimental therapies extend effects to others around you, particularly girls so we are being cautious about who shares a room Me: As an experienced backpacker, your place seems unsuitable for me. Will make other plans. Mango: Thank you for your understanding, try woolshed bp, they may be more indoctrinated & follow the risky narrative, time will tell, cheers.

Great venue for medium to large sized groups.

Great accommodation for large groups, especially sporting teams. The room were very clean and tidy. There was a large room for meals, which also sufficed as a meeting room. We had breakfast and dinner at the venue, which was fantastic home cooking. A fantastic Mt biking venue - purposely built, but this was not what we were here for. We stayed for the QRTS - Team McDonald's/Bolle
