Always fun to eat here on our yearly visits to Franklin Kentucky. Tasty Mexican food quick. See a line? Don't worry they move it along. Decor inside is nice and servers friendly. Walk to local motels and easily.

I have had two visits, one with a church youth group, and although the food is good, we had to wait over an hour for our orders to be completed.
Recently, I stopped by to buy some gift certificates, (for said church youth group), and admittedly a busy lunch time for them. After paying for the gift certificates, I was asked to "come back later tonight" to pick them up! (she had already pulled out the pad of certificates to write them out).
Needless to say that was not an option, and after speaking to the manager, I will be able to pick them up 2 and a half hours later. Granted its not "tonight" but come on gift certificates!

I have stopped in Best Donuts a number of times and they are consistently good. Any time of day their product is fresh and tasty. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and ready to assist in your selection.
Early mornings are busy due to people purchasing "by the dozen" to bring to work. No wonder, the donuts are excellent.

I was recently in Franklin, KY taking care of business when I came across the 4 Soils Coffee, Café, Bakery. The atmosphere in the café is charming and unique and the staff makes you feel very comfortable the moment that they start waiting on you.
The bakery good are made fresh, very tasty and the coffee excellent. The menu is small but the quality of the meal is excellent. There is seating within the café or out on the mail street or out the back door (semi-private).
A hidden little gem in Franklin.

Brickyard Cafe Franklin has been the local favorite for more than 10 years. We are proud of our house made bread and dessert,gourmet pizzas, hand carved steaks, and fresh seafood dishes. On Friday evenings Brickyard offers live music. Mixologist is on duty and ready for a challenge!!
While traveling through Kentucky on business with my wife, we stayed overnight in Franklin.
At first, after looking at the restaurant selection for the area, I began to think that we should have stopped in Bowling Green.
Several eateries were either closed or closing up soon due to our late arrival in the area, and when traveling I tend to not eat food that is fried or would leave me feeling heavy so that tends to limit my options, but I also wanted a cocktail or two to finish off my long day.
After reading a few reviews we found the Brickyard Café and decided to give it a go instead of driving the 20+ minutes back to Bowling Green.
This cozy upscale eatery sits off the town square and parking is available on the street with no meters. The outside does give it a rather small, if not inviting appearance, however upon entering you will see that it is larger than its external appearance projects.
There is a full bar and plenty of seating. If you do not wish to sit in the bar area, there is a dining area separated from the bar by a wall.
We were greeted almost immediately and was given the option to sit at the bar or away from it and my wife chose to sit away from the bar. Our server, Andy, was prompt and very courteous, offering us wine and cocktail menus. I chose the cocktail menu and saw a nice selection of cocktails to choose from. We did not look at the wine menu so I cannot attest to its contents, but would assume based on everything else it would be good as well.
Our only disappointment of the night occurred when I ordered a Dark n' Stormy and our server came back to inform us that the bar did not have any of the ginger syrup needed. However, there were plenty of other enticing cocktails to choose from so no harm. Since my requested cocktail was not possible, and was on the menu, my next selection was discounted to the Dark n' Stormy's price. Unexpected and unnecessary, I do realize these things happen from time to time, but was pleasantly surprised to see this level of service.
I chose the Ellis Island instead and it was quite delicious and my wife's Espresso Cocktail was to her liking.
The artichoke dip and bread sticks were our appetizer. The bread sticks were not the types used at the Olive Gardens but was cut bread strips that were toasted and they had just the right amount of crunchiness and warmth to go with the very creamy and delicious dip. A very warming and welcome start to our meal.
Bread slices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar was also brought out. The bread was room temperature and very soft and had a very pleasant taste. I have been used to other Italian restaurants serving their table bread warm, but this was a very good presentation and went well with dinner.
My wife ordered the Champagne Chicken and I ordered the Goat Cheese and Tomato Gocce. The gocce can have chicken or shrimp added to it and I chose chicken, which I think I married well with the sauce and drops. I took a bite of my wife's chicken and the vegetables that came with it and the chicken was succulent, the sauce nice and creamy and the vegetables tender and tasty.
While her chicken was good, I really liked the gocce and was very pleased with my selection. The goat cheese and tomato was delicious and the drops were perfectly cooked. Combined with the sauce and chicken this was a delicious and comforting meal.
While I have to be careful with the consumption of pasta that late at night so that it does not sit heavy, this was not an issue. The portion sizes were spot on for the appetizer and entree. This is not portion sizes like you would get at chain restaurants. Think slightly smaller and more conservative, concentrating on quality and taste. That being said, for my wife anything above a half order of anything is too large. Until we came to desert.
I wasn't really planning on a desert. After the Ellis Island I decided to switch gears and have the Simpson Sour cocktail. Very delicious. A smooth sour drink that almost made me wish I had ordered it first. Very well done indeed. That was to finish my meal. My wife, however, had spotted the bread pudding and as you can surmise, we ordered it.
My wife and I normally shy away from a bread pudding with chocolate. Even with a well-done bourbon sauce the chocolate can be overpowering. We do normally prefer bread pudding without it. However, the chocolate complimented this bread pudding. It was not poured all over, but was streamed across in wonderful lines. This allowed us to taste the bread pudding with the bourbon sauce without the chocolate and then taste it all together. And the portion was more than enough for two people to share.
Fine service and food made our decision to stopover and dine in Franklin the right one. The appetizer and entrées arrived at our table in a timely manner and at the right temperature. Cocktails were also timely and at the right temperature. No watery drinks here. The establishment and dinnerware was clean, the décor warm and relaxing and the staff courteous, prompt and observant.
When traveling this way again, we will make it a point to stop and dine here. As for price, they are comparably inexpensive. I have paid more for this level of service and quality of food, as my wife observed during our experience. Please note that I have travelled nationally and internationally (Asia, Canada & Europe), so my view of expensive may be moderately to vastly different from your own.
Also, since we were staying at the Holiday Inn in Franklin our appetizer was comped. This isn’t necessarily a draw for me, but was a nice addition to an already pleasant experience.
I would recommend the Brickyard Café to anyone who is seeking a cozy place to take your spouse, fiancé, girlfriend or boyfriend. Anyone who is traveling and seeking an upscale eatery instead of one of the myriad number of chains along the way. And in general, anyone who is looking for fine dining.

This is a very good place but nothing special. The food is good and they provide fast service. What separates this Resturant from others is the owners personal touch. He thanks every customer for coming to the restaurant and show genuine concern to please each customer.

$45.01 one person filet steak three bottles beers. Plus tip. Usual Applebee's like restaurant but with local "charm". Mexican place across the street six people plus drinks $110 bucks. Want a steak eat here want fajitas eat across the street. Steak was ok beer selection was sold out fist three choices. Dinners rolls were the best thing about this supper. Many tv's to watch sports.

Chips had no flavor. Salsa obviously came from a jar which both my wife and a think was Chi-Chi's brand you can get at any supermarket. We shared a double order of Fajitas Texanas and felt the spices were just dumped on top of the food at the end of the cooking INSTEAD of cooking with the meat and vegetables was they quick cooked in the skillet. How can you tell the difference? Simple, marinated meat has spice throughout, when you dump the spices on top at the end, you get a coating of dried spice. It was truly a disappointing meal.
I should mention that when the plates for the fajitas came to the table, no tortillas. Seems sort of odd. So we waited, waited some more and watched our waiter sitting in a booth just looking around the nearly empty restaurant. Finally, we asked him if we could get tortillas. Badically, bad service. Since there aren't many restaurants in the area, I guess they feel they don't need to try hard and it clearly shows. Our base measure of local Mexican restaurant in the area is Garcia's in Glasgow and Bowling Green KY. ALWAYS fast service. ALWAYS great food prepared right.

This place is fantastic . Plenty of choices of great Southern cooking. They have good hours during the week when they are opwn 5 to 7 but the weekends are 11 to 2. They have homemade desserts that are the best.
