La Cote Saint Jacques

Our enchanting hotel in Burgundy awaits you in Joigny, just 90 minutes from Paris. In a setting that is both decidedly modern and indelibly marked by refinement, the Cote Saint Jacques, our luxury, 5-star hotel, opens the doors of its Relais & Chateaux es

We had a large, comfortable for 2, spaciously isolated. Service was impeccable. The menu had one entry, 2 dishes , cheese and dessert. All perfectly cooked and presented. I highly recommend the mouth watering gellee d'oyster appetizer, the caviar ile flottante, the foie gras poele, the rose desert. also excellent cheese plateau with the superb regalis (perhaps better than roquefort). Wine service was expert and quite responsive (changed a wine we did not like much, even though there was nothing wrong with wine). We were treated to a visit to the kitchen with chef Jean-Michel Lorain. Excellent service with Fabien.A memorable evening in an establishment clearly aiming to please its clients.Dear Bernard L,Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your fantastic review, we are pleased that you enjoyed your meal with Fabien and us.We hope that we might have the pleasure of your return though, so that we are able to ensure you have such a memorable and enjoyable experience. All the bestJean-Michel Lorain & his team

Le Rive Gauche Restaurant

My wife and I selected the Angus beef, not being seduced by other meals in the menu. Since we were driving, we selected half a bottle of red Côtes de Beaune which was ok.Service is top level as expected for this kind of restaurant. Quality of food is in the good average without being amazing and Angus (three grilled parts displayed on decorative mashed potatoes with small salsify cylinders) does not appear to be better than our French Charolais. Dessert was a pretty good "sorbet au vieux marc de Bourgogne".Perhaps this restaurant is worth visiting again to give a better appreciation?

Restaurant Paris Nice

We’ve been eating in several Burgundi restaurants and Paris Nice certainly lines up with the best ones. They offer several fixed price menus which include an appetizer main and dessert. As we sat down they served bread with the best tapaned I have ever eaten I could just eat the whole serving with a spoon...The salad bar is very rich, I personally would have liked more fresh vegetables , but there were numerous meats, fish sea food pickles and mayonnaise based salads. The other starter was the terrine which came with a poached egg in a broth, simply perfect. For mains my dearest ordered the veal and sausages in sauce, well let me say that we disliked the sausage (a real understatement...) but the veal was ok. I ordered the entrecôte steak which was excellent Dessert was a baba rum with pineapple

We discovered this café thanks to a friend's recommendation. We had such a great time we came back! It is on a very quiet square at the edge of the historic center of pretty Joigny, the Saint Jean church is a few minutes and Saint André is on the other side of the square. Their terrace sits under trees and is a delightful place for a drink on warm days. The inside is fun and funky with a album corner and friendly sitting areas and quirky things for sale up stairs. Their menu features nice light meals like quiches, bruschettas and salads at very reasonable prices, and they are very delicious! We wish there was a café like this down the street from us and are looking forward to coming back!Thank you

Brasserie des Voyageurs

Do not be put off by the exterior, nor the very simple local bar front of house……make your way to the "trattoria' at the back and order home made pasta, risotto, gnocchi, pizza, huge plates of "chiffonade" ….. and wonderful home made ice-cream! Alfonso's cooking is all you need to transport you to Italy…..It's the real thing, un-pretentious, tasty, he cares about his products and it shows in everything he serves….We are happy to frequent this place, and have yet to be disappointed…..the service and the prices are exceptionally friendly……. The wines are just "ok"….perhaps on their frequent trips home some small producers wines could be found to match the cooking? That would be perfect!!
