We arrived at Les Thermes, without having booked, and finding most other restaurants closed (it was July 14th.) From the outside, it looks a rather unprepossessing bar/brasserie and our expectations for lunch were not high. In fact, we were delighted and thoroughly recommend the place. The owners were extraordinarily welcoming and genuinely friendly, chatting before and after the meal and serving attentively but unobtrusively throughout. We both ate from a menu - just plat and dessert - which, although I can't recall the exact price, was very reasonable. The emphasis is on galettes and crêpes (the owner/chef-cuistot is breton) and my partner's smoked salmon galette and crêpe pommes au caramel were very much liked - generous portions, tasty, fresh ingredients and nicely-presented. I had a perfectly-cooked entrecôte with excellent, crispy chips and a simple ice-cream to finish. Coffee and tea were both good and cider and (a really good) red wine were available by bottle or bolée/glass. Les Thermes has no pretensions and is all the better for that. But, when I step back and consider the quality of the cooking and the welcome, it is impossible to find fault. At the price, I think the place is unbeatable. If you want a good meal, in a friendly ambience and, moreover, very close to the centre of Rochefort (La Corderie is at five minutes' walking distance), with parking almost next door, you will not be disappointed.

The curried mussels here were the best we've ever had. So good, we returned the following day for more. Simple, but excellent menu combined with excellent friendly staff.

Situé à côté du camping , très bon restaurant près de la plage ( La Perroche ) . Serveur et patron super sympathiques . Ambiance décontractée . Nous avons pris camembert rôti au miel , salade bergère , encornets à la persillade et glaces , tout était délicieux . Endroit très calme .

We visit Chatel a few times a year, only had the pleasure of eating here once, but we will certainly be making this a regular choice of dining. Made very welcome with complimentary drink, portions are generous and tasty. Deco a little tired, but since we visited it's had a makeover. Situated overlooking Le Grand Plage and the ocean, the first floor offers superb views and spectacular sunsets as an adjunct to good food and friendly service. Prices are about what you would expect in a tourist venue. Reservations are recommended if you want to secure good seats on the open air terrace as it fills up pretty quickly of an evening.

We had been out all day and we wanted a good quick meal without having to go to farSo we tried this place - never again if I could give a negative mark I would - awfulService was indifferent and if you are asked how you want your burger cooked then you would expect it to come that way - not here - it was ordered "cooked between medium and well done" It was raw and worse still very cold inside we complained and when it was brought back the bun was burnt black but the burger was still raw. We sent it back permanently and left after we had finished the other course of moules a la creme which the sauce was very saltyEven though they didn't charges us for the burger it was a not a pleasant experience and we will never be back there to eatThere are a lot of better places to eat - sadly it is closest to the campsite and will be frequented by a lot of people who will be disappointeddear customers. it would be good to establish the truth in this opinion. indeed meat burger was not to your liking. Not cold but bloody as it is eaten in France. Two times we've changed your flat and twice again this does not suit you. At one point we do not know what to do !! for mussels do you know that the mussels live in the sea ?? felt the salt is just salt content in mussels. Do you want that we remove the salt from the sea? and finally our waiter was never indifferent with you. The proof is that other customers present this evening felt that you had been abusive. I allow myself to tell you that your last sentence is certainly to your image that is, without interest.

We found this restaurant by accident. It is a small restaurant in a little village. The food is great and the prices are nice. Good wines too.

We all decided on the menu du jour. Crevettes for starter, fish with pasta for mains and apple pie for dessert. Good value and fish was particularly nice. Stops serving lunch at 14.00 sharp, as do most restaurants in France. Service was a little slapdash but all in all a good value lunch
