Famagusta District, Cyprus Food Guide: 10 Turkish food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Famagusta

Reviews on Turkish food in Famagusta, Famagusta District, Cyprus. Famagusta /ˌfæməˈɡʊstə, ˌfɑː-/ (Greek: Αμμόχωστος locally [aˈmːoxostos]; Turkish: Mağusa [mɑˈɰusɑ], or Gazimağusa [gɑːzimɑˈɰusɑ]) is a city on the east coast of Cyprus. It is located east of Nicosia and possesses the deepest harbour of the island. During the medieval period (especially under the maritime republics of Genoa and Venice), Famagusta was the island's most important port city and a gateway to trade with the ports of the Levant, from where the Silk Road merchants carried their goods to Western Europe. The old walled city and parts of the modern town presently fall within the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Gazimağusa District, of which it is the capital. It is also notable as the birthplace of the eponymous hero of the Renaissance proto-novel Fortunatus.

Modern, spotless, everything cooked fresh to order with a contemporary twist. Lovely service, the staff aim to please. The homemade burgers are wonderful. My go to place for a coffee, homemade lemonade or lunch when visiting Famagusta.

I couldn't find a table since everything was reserved. Finally they showed me to a faraway table with hardly any wifi signal in spite of me specifically asking for wifi connection. A waiter who spoke no English showed me a menu in Turkish. I asked for a menu in English but...Not available. Not a good start and I will not bother trying again

We visited here for an evening meal whilst on holiday and really enjoyed everything about this place. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed complimentary toasted bread and garlic butter before the main dishes arrived. Both were fish dishes, both delicious and very fresh. Luckily we still had room for desserts that were great too. Definitely worth a visit.

I can’t compliment the service enough, I’m only sorry I didn’t ask our waitress’s name as she was so pleasant and helpful.Unfortunately my husband chose a meal he didn’t like. She noticed this and although it was his poor choice and he wasn’t complaining about the food she brought out a house special dish which smelt wonderful and he did actually enjoy.Give it a try, they have a good selection of fresh fish dishes.

A classic hidden gem. Gem because it's a friendly family-run restaurant with traditional island food with all its Turkish and Greek influences (rather than just fast food). You can select various options from a buffet-style setup in the kitchen. The home-made lemonade is a great choice to it. Hidden, because it's not so easy to find with few street names visible in the city. It's some minutes outside of the old town by foot. If you use your smartphone, save the restaurant in Tripadvisor or Google Maps and have your GPS signal on and you can't miss it. On Google Maps download the offline map where you have wifi in ordet to avoid roaming fees (your operator will charge fees for Turkey in Northern Cyprus). Enjoy!

With a place right at the entrance to Salamis, you'd think the staff would be heartily tired of guests coming in just to use the restroom, so when my daughter asked to use the facility, I was surprised by how warmly the welcomed her in! Like, they were genuinely happy to have her just there! It was crazy nice. So nice, I decided we had to stay for some coffee and drinks. The view … ah the view … the ocean on one side and an AMAZING view of the archeological site on the other. Crazy! Next door is a playground just to sweeten the deal. We also bought a jar of carob syrup because how could we resist a local treat? It's plenty cool in the covered portion and they keep their bottled water in a very cold glass case. Perfect for an after hike stop.

We have really enjoyed our visits to this place over the past few years but this visit has changed everything, I'm afraid. We were seated inside despite there being seats outside and given menus. We had to send two meals back because it had been heated up inadequately and the server did not seem surprised when we told her. The servers were not particularly friendly and we were handed our bill before we had a chance to ask for dessert, coffee or anything else, which under the circumstances, should may have been complimentary due to the cold food. I will be surprised if we go back

We took our son and girlfriend to this restaurant to let her experience the fantastic food and service we have been lucky to have experienced for the past 15+ years. She loved every second of it - the quality of the food, the frlendliness of the family who run it and great atmosphere. It is always full, mostly locals, which says something. Long may it continue

Visited this beautiful restaurant one evening during a drive into farmagusta. The decor inside is truly stunning but we sat out the front which was also equally as inviting with the lovely setting and candles etc. The food was brilliant the best we had eaten during our stay in cyprus we normally go to Turkey every summer but this year fancied a change and we didnt like it half as much and the food everywhere in protaras was extremely poor and frozen crap! This place was so refreshing and it was the first meal we enjoyed during our 2 week stay, could tell we were in the turkish side! Much better food and much nicer people! Special shout out to ali and sheriff both of which really made our evening and were so welcoming friendly and attentive we will return one day only this time we would rather stay in the Turkish northern side

Very hard to find anywhere serving strictly vegan food on this side of the north of the island but this place was good. We had lentil soup followed by quinoa patties and salad that had avocado and walnuts in it. Lovely freshly squeezed juices too including pomegranate. We also had a lovely fresh fruit platter for dessert. Meal for two, three courses and booze was £25 in total. The restaurant is in the new town near the big mosque so the area isn’t very charming but the food was good.
