Wow... you will not be dissapointed. Fried in beef dripping a treat. Cooked fresh to order by friendly staff & is really as cheap as chips. There is always a queue but don't let this put you off, local folk are so friendly.

There's a good crew of friendly people working here and food is delivered relatively promptly. It's all good quality and the chips are great, one of my benchmarks for a good menu. They have plenty of wines to choose from. Looking at the website it's a shame they didn't tell me they do a Viognier by the glass. It's good to see they also do Pinot Noir by the glass The pub is considerably smarter than when I last visited about 15 years ago and there is much more to offer on the menu, such as hake, monkfish and squid. There are several meat options. There is a good section for dog owners, but they don't get a view of the sea.Craster looks a bit gentrified today with new restaurants having opened. Even in late October there are still hundreds of people doing the coastal walk up to Dunstanburgh Castle. That's a bit of a stroll really and if you want a bit more exercise a good option is to walk along the beach to Newton by the Sea, have a drink at The Ship and then walk back to Craster for a meal. That's about 2.5 hours walking so you'll deserve a proper meal and drink at the end of it.

We called in here for lunch when visiting the area, parking is very limited but worth walking to from the local main car park.A very good and comprehensive menu offering fresh seafood amongst other good choices. Service was good from very efficient and busy staff and portions more than adequate. The main seating area is in a large conservatory giving wonderful views over the sea.

This could be a great little pub. Unfortunately, like so many in the region, they pander to the dreaded, 4 legged friend.I love dogs, but why oh why, do inconsiderate owners, insist on dragging them into EVERY restaurant and bar?My girlfriend was mauled by 2 dogs as a 4yo. This has left indelible scars, both physical and emotional...but she has to sit in our car, if we visit places like this.On top of this, they don't accept cards for drinks. The ONLY saving grace for this establishment, is the Brewer, who is rightly proud of his craft and his products.

We have stopped off for coffee and cake previously but this was our first Sunday lunch at The Bistro. The menu gave plenty of choice including several vegetarian options. For starters we had Spring Rolls with chilli dipping sauce and deep fried Camembert. Both were delicious. For our mains we had a roast pork (with delicious crackling) and a silverside beef. Lunch came with a good portion of fresh vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and the fluffiest roast potatoes ever. We finished our meal with homemade apple crumple and custard and homemade strawberry cheesecake. The entire meal was absolutely delicious. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The icing on the cake was the fabulous view along the beach to Beadnell, a wonderful setting.

There are three fish and chip restaurants here; all very close by. When asked, some local people recommended this one. My family and I ordered cod and haddock and chips. Arrived all freshly cooked, decent portions and the waitress was friendly enough. Prices are reasonable - but don't try to pay with a 50 Pound note because they are not accepted. We had to go and get change.

Salt Water Cafe

A café by day and an intimate bistro by night. We serve breakfasts, lunch and dinner alongside a range of coffees, pastries, cakes and savoury snacks

I had seen the menu for this place and thought it was a bit pricey for the area so maybe something a bit special. Maybe it is if you call at the right time but not at 3pm on a wet afternoon.I was told that only coffee and cake is available after 3pm. That was fine as it was what I was looking for. The cake all looked too desert like and not what I wanted so I had a fruit scone. It was huge and came with butter and jam (in a small plastic jar). Not a good scone with a tough outside though the inside was ok.The whole time I was there the staff were preparing for the evening; pulling out tables and cleaning whilst one of the staff talked loudly to her colleague. I wasn’t the only customer but felt very unwelcome and in the way. In fact everyone left pretty quickly. This is an appalling way to treat customers. Yes you need to prepare for evening so stop being greedy and just shut the cafe for an hour to get it done. I certainly won’t be returning to see if you are worth the prices you charge at other times of the day. We're sorry we disappointed you on your recent visit and can assure you, we will look into the issues you have raised and can only apologise that we let you down on this occasion. I would like to send you a discount voucher, should you wish to visit us again, if you can send an email to [email protected] with your full name and address, I will get one out in the post to you
