Popped in whilst car being serviced for an unplanned lunch. The place was relatively empty and not very clean. I was (sort of) met by a young man who was not very interested and said “sit anywhere mate”. I did, chose a burger and a coffee - it came, was edible, nothing special. The waitress was pleasant - but it seemed these 2 ‘youngsters’ were the entire staff. It was not bad, but not memorable and I have no plans to return. It has no character and serves predominantly grilled/fried pub grub and fair prices. Not my kind of place.

There was a group of us today out for a walk with our dogs. Mark recommended this pub to try. As soon as we walked through the door you feel a brilliant atmosphere. We where greeted by the owners and made to feel so welcome. This is a dog friendly pub but you need to respect where they are allowed. I think this is very important as not all people like dogs. The pub was very clean and tidy. The food and service was brilliant. They catered for everybodies taste, and the vegitarian choice was better than most pubs we have been to This is one pub which i would give 150% vote.We are returning very shortly and will be all the time.

About a dozen of us visited the Village Inn in Twyning after a riverside walk.Beautifully situated on the edge of the village green we were looking forward to a great lunch. Unfortunately for us the pub was heavily booked and we were relegated to the skittles ally.No probs. we had a good pub lunch at a reasonable price.Summer time this is a perfect location for dropping off the green. The pub itself looked a bit tired. I noted that they are having a "sausage and Cider" weekend in June. It should be good and I'll make the effort to be there. Not elegant dining but smashing pub grub

This 15th century building with it's 'Tudor' front is, architecturally, amazing and must rank as one of the most spectacular pubs in the UK. In the distant past, I have had some great meals in there and drunk some splendid beer!We had been visiting Gloucester and decided to call in to Tewkesbury to see the Abbey and to have a drink in the Berkeley Arms, a pub I haven't been in for, perhaps, 30 years!!! We went down the corridor and into the lounge. There was a guy busying himself behind the bar who ignored me. Eventually, to make some kind of conversation, I said that I hadn't been inside this pub for, perhaps, 30 years! He grunted and walked away! I went around into the front room and tried to engage him in conversation about the beer. My partner joined me. She is very particular about the beer she drinks liking a dark, malty pint. We asked for a 'taster' and, with some reluctance he poured a tiny amount into a 'taster glass'. It was not to her taste and the barman/owner advice. He had no suggestions to make, showed no interest and just shrugged his shoulders.Living in France I am well used to the 'Gallic shrug' We left! What could have been an enjoyable experience was tarnished by the miserable being behind the bar. Why the miserable face? Why the reluctance to engage with us? Was it because my partner is black - I hope not! No wonder the place was empty!A big disappointment.

Headed for this village following recommendation from a friend. Lovely village with several thatched cottages typical of the Cotswolds area. There is limited parking for the pub but considerate parking on the lane next to it is possible. There is a secluded garden out the back and many eclectic seating areas throughout the pub itself, where you can sit surrounded by many beams and old features including a large inglenook fireplace. The service was friendly and as all food was cooked to order one needs to slow down to enjoy the experience. The menu was varied from sandwiches to lunchtime options and a specials list for the evening. The puddings looked good including a cheese option with fruit cake, but we were too full having enjoyed a pre-starter of crispy potato peelings with tomato salsa. Our main courses were nice enough but we must return to try some other options and then review this pub again as I suspect we might increase our score from average.Thank you very much for your review and were very happy to hear you enjoyed your lunch with us. Why not come back in December if you can as we offer our specials at lunch time during the festive month. Otherwise we hope to see you again soon and thanks again for taking e time to post your review.

Came for the Wednesday night jazz club. Reserved a table for the three of us to dine to find it looking like an after-thought squeezed in by the outside (open) door. Had to wait for the menus to be printed. 2 courses for £12.50. Over-priced. Dreadfully poor prawn curry (Lidl's cheap frozen prawns drowned in a fiery chilli sauce) followed - 45 minutes later - by a passable apple crumble. 40 people in the room many of whom clearly have low expectations regarding quality of service and food. In fairness, we'd probably give this place another try if only to measure our experience this evening.

Would definitely give this place another visit. Nice setting, atmosphere and the staff are very attentive. Ordered the meatballs and pasta which were very tasty but unfortunately the pasta was cold by the time we started eating. Perhaps if the pasta were served in pasta bowls which were warmed first it might help? Not sure how long the pasta had been waiting but it had definitely been put onto cold plates. It was a real real shame as everything else was so lovely and, with regards what you are paying, you would hope it would be spot on. The pasta dish wasnt cheap. Did mention to our waitress. However, the desserts were great! Would definitely recommend the brownie (crumble was tasty but tricky to eat out of a mug). Really good puds. Will definitely give this place another try and tell family and friends about it. Worth it for the atmosphere and puds alone!Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the puddings and we are sorry that you felt the pasta was not hot enough for you. We hope to see you again soon!
