The food choices were varied and reasonably priced. I had the set menu (£12 two courses), both dishes well-cooked and hot. This is one of my favourite pub restaurants and has been for some time. I love the old building and chilled atmosphere, and the lounge with comfy chairs and settees is a favourite.I took a friend yesterday for an evening meal for his birthday. We both had starters. Mine was crispy eggs which was nice enough. His main was fish and mine sirloin steak. The steak was OK but not great and his was the same, but the veg were fresh and nicely cooked. The puddings were a bit limited too. Service as very good. Overall not too bad an experience but not remarkable

Our first visit was for an evening meal and both the chowder starter and sea bream main were very tasty, well presented and good value. Service was very friendly and efficient. The chef's presentation of the meals is better than average and thankfully everything came in/on crockery rather than a piece of slate / wood / whatever the fad is this week - well done! We came back for drinks on two other days and sat in the grounds overlooking the waterfront - idyllic. We'd certainly go back for food and or just drinks. Recommended.

First visit when viewing houses in the area.We booked lunch, rustic country interior, polite and helpful staff.The roast beef and lamb lunches were on the expensive side over £16, and the meat portions could have been larger, however the potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding, veg and gravy were delicious. Good selection of beer, the house Red was acceptable at a reasonable price.Worth a visit.

I can't thank the staff enough. We were a party of 12 for my birthday and everything went so smoothly. The welcome was warm and friendly, the food was Excellency , served promptly and with lovely generous and hot servings. I just relaxed and enjoyed the company of friends and family. We decided to go out for Lunch & also decided to give the Donkey & Buskins another try , I phoned and made a reservations to be sure we got a table they were most accommodating suggesting a couple of times they had tables available we settled on 2.30 , we arrived at 2.20 and went to the bar ordered a drink and told them that we had a lunch reservation , the guy behind the bar sorted our drinks and advised us that the table would be available very soon it was just being cleaned , on time we were shown to our table and given the Menuâs which was extensive as well as the Roast options , we choose the Roast Beef & my partner had the Roast Lamb as we were away from the main bar area we decided to ask if our Dog was able to join us to which we were told of course our Lunch arrived quickly it was piping hot and absolutely delicious with lots of freshly cooked vegetables , we ordered another drink & also decided to have a sweet which also arrived promptly.Well done to everybody would definitely recommend & return .Even though the final bill was mixed up it was sorted.Thank you

We had a really chilled evening last night for my sisters birthday meal. The place is decorated in a way that is airy and spacious... tables are not all crammed in. Norbury and Tia worked non stop and very personable, friendly and helpful. The food was varied and really good quality. The best meal out I've had for a very long time... everything work... ambience service and food 11/ 10 Thanks guys
