Artisan Bar & Kitchen

I’ve visited the Artisan since 20 July and have met Jamie, Lynette, Angus, Ben, Rob and Anthony as the bar staff. Anthony served me my first ever Artisan coffee last Sunday. The atmosphere is outstanding.I have met Jamie most often out of the staff, who, like the other staff is very accommodating to customers’ individual needs, who provide a warm welcome to me and other customers.I also made my first ever visit to the Upstairs part of the Artisan on 28 September which I’d not got around to visiting before last Saturday where they have an additional bar and seating. The Artisan also holds live music.I have varied having one or more soft cold and hot drinks to one or more drinks and a meal, and staying for a few minutes through to an hour or longer, depending on the occasion in question, but whatever the duration, I always arrive and leave feeling happy at the Artisan. The Artisan has many alcoholic drinks including cocktails, as well as soft drinks including an exquisite orange juice from freshly squeezed oranges, and a separate fizzy orange juice drink, plus specialist rhubarb and separately apple drinks among the wide variety of drinks they sell.At my most recent visit, Lynette and Jamie were on duty. On this occasion, Jamie took my order at the bar counter and also delivered my fish & chips meal to my table (an excellent size portion of both) where I watched and listened to a Jazz trio performing to my right at the far end of the downstairs (entrance) room.Wow thankyou for your fantastic review, it really is much appreciatedAnthony

WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO!Went there for the first time, ordered 2 Flat White Coffees and 1 Mushroom Toastie. The restaurant takes your money when ordering and then you sit down.We waited over 25 minutes and received nothingI over heard the lady behind the counter say to a young lady she does not know what she is doing (I CAN AGREE WITH HER) when I noticed that another couple who came about 10 minutes after us and also waited quite sometime for their drinksGot their drinks before us (Enough was Enough)! So we went up to the counter and asked for a refund. The young girl was only going to refund us for the coffees she forgot about the Mushroom toastie, I had to mention it.They should not be allowed to run a restaurant No one knows what they are doing !I have never seen in all my life such a clueless establishment. We will NEVER go there again.I am disgusted, wasted just under half an hour of our time.WARNING I suggest you only go to this RESTAURANT if you have plenty of spare time on Your hands. They could have put this right by apologising then making our drinks straightaway and then bring the Toastie I ordered and then said this is on them for their total incompetence.

Good atmosphere but the food is a bit naff. You would expect a restaurant that is on the beach would serve fresh fish, but no I got a reheated frozen triangle piece of fish with frozen peas. Chips looked fresh though

The modest frontage hides a large dining area, and though the car park is small there is more parking not far uphill. Interesting menu with a good gluten free selection served by genuinely helpful, interested and engaging staff. Big portions so you may not need a starter or dessert! Almost merits five stars but the food was a bit cold and my fish slightly over cooked ( though there was a sudden rush of people just as we arrived) and there is stiff competition on the island in god pub food. Don’t let my rating put you off as we’d certainly go again.

We had booked a table and so we must have been expected. We were about twenty minutes early for our table time but planned to have a drink beforehand. When we walked in we felt unwelcome as though we were intruding on the staff sitting and chatting at the bar. The door was open but nobody seemed to welcome us or come forward to take us to a table. The service was a little haphazard. The lady who brought out the food was friendly however we had no idea what was on offer in the “bistro style” no menu set up.It was all a little strange and we won’t hurry back. Just odd!!Apologies Alex, we have not served food for 3 months now so this must have been under a different Regime a few months ago! We are still not serving food but hope to soon,BestGeorge

During our stay at Kingswood camps in Bembridge we dined at this beautiful local pub twice. We were a group of 18 (16 teens) and we were given an exceptionally great welcome from Jay and all the staff. The food was very good both in quality and quantity. Jay was very flexible to order over the phone and was very helpful to our teens. Great place, good food, good people and good music! Will definitely come back.So glad you had an amazing time. Your group were greet fun. It was fun showing them all the different food before they ordered. Always a pleasure. See you soon.
