Great food and drink with a view.
We were walking on the North Devon coast line and fancied some lunch - as we were all vegan we were hoping that something might be edible for us. They guessed we were vegan and offered us the vegan menu straight away (it may have been because I shouted something about them having falafel on the way in, or maybe we just look like raging vegans). Pleasantly surprised to see they had vegan pizzas offered with vegan cheese and a choice of toppings. It tasted good and the pizza dough was yummy!! It was caked in cheese so would have preferred a bit less, but only a minor complaint. Lovely location and friendly service.

This is a Cafe/Deli they also have a facebook page we enjoyed great service theere whilst on holiday..
Not my first visit and definitely not my last. Welcoming staff (essential in Ilfracombe's competitive cafe market) and a wide selection of sandwiches, paninis and lunch / brunch options. Also cakes to die for, especially the vegan brownie. I'm not either veggie or vegan and only tried it in an attempt to eat a 'better for you' cake! Coconut oil instead of butter I believe and the result is stellar!! We had a BLT which tastes as good as it looks in the photo. 'Er indoors 'ad a brie, grape and marmalade panini - also gorge. The Deli achieves a great balance of being warm and welcoming and serving attractive, quality meals - not a feat all cafes in the town seem able to match. We shall return!!

My sister and I (both vegans) were visiting Ilfracombe for a couple of days in March 2019 and we found out about Grass Roots when looking up vegan-friendly places to try for lunch. The cafe had a lovely atmosphere with beautiful decor, and the lady serving was friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!! We tried the mushroom and spinach pie, houmous, olive and sun-dried tomato sandwich, and chocolate ginger slice for pudding. It was all amazing and I wish I could eat it again right now!

This place is just what we need in a country riddled with pretentious overpriced sub quality restaurants. Letâs get back to basics and let the fresh products do the talking. Lovely crab salad served with a simple salad and fresh tasting wine. Great staff especially the young lad who served us.Next time we will go for the very reasonably priced lobster.

Since I don't live in the UK it's been a while since I went to a traditional British cafe. This is a good find if you are looking for this type of fare but don't come here if you are looking for haute cuisine in any way. The menu has such delights as egg on toast, beans on toast etc. etc. You get the idea. These are cooked within sight of the smallish dining room on a small, two ring hob! It is all quite something from days gone by and there is nothing wrong with that. It is table service, and we were here late morning for hot chocolate on a cool, blustery day. Service is reasonably fast and is friendly so nothing to complain about. Some folks on the table next to us ordered egg on toast and it looked fine although, certainly not imaginative though. There need to be places like this and I enjoyed our short visit here but really, this is not my thing, being the culinary snob I am. I would certainly come here for tea/coffee/hot chocolate as we did this time, but honestly, I can't see myself eating here. Looks as though it is licensed since there are beers and wines listed on the board here. Glad we dropped in.Thank you for your kind review. It is a small point but I feel that you have underestimated our kitchen capability. Just for your information we have a 4 ring hob, 3 flat-top grills and a double oven! As well as beans and egg on toast we do a variety of different breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas - catering for all appetites. Best Regards, the team at Adele's Cafe.

Passed here a few times on our trip and finally got in today. Food and service were fine and itâs clear they make an effort. However just needs a bit of TLC, wife not impressed with the loo and it was all a bit dusty. Simple things but it would stop us going again which is a shame. Thanks for giving the thumbs up for are food and service the building is very old and we try and keep up with the maintenance being by the sea and extremely windy conditions dust and sand can get blown in which we try to keep under control. We always regularly clean the toilet and in between customers if it is brought to are attention any problems we try are upmost to sort things out.we are currently coming to an end of very busy season and admit things do start to look tired and will take your comments on board and as we always do smarten things up for next season yours faithfully Ap Ownsworth
