My Wife and I stumbled across this bar by accident whilst enjoying an afternoon at the 1940's day celebrations in Darwen, Tucked away on a side street it felt like a little piece of Continental Cafe Culture had relocated itself to Darwen. Bar has an extensive range of Gins, as well as a number of good quality beers and wines. The premises are very tastefully decorated and clean. The staff were both amenable and knowledgeable about the drinks. The Manchester Raspberry Gin with real fresh raspberries and shattered ice was a revelation as well as being reasonably pricedPremises has a good daytime atmosphere, if the weather is clement you can stand outside, or sit at a number of tables. There is also an upstairs area but we did not visit on this occasion. Great potential, can't wait until our next visit, we will bring our friends next time!

The Tea Shop

This is a plain, unpretentious, traditional cafe. The decor is refreshingly simple and a mile away from the plethora of vintage tea rooms that seem to be sprouting up everywhere these days. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy using twee tea rooms when the mood takes me, but most of the time I prefer a good traditional British caff. The menu here is also traditional cafe fare, and in addition to the ubiquitous "all day breakfast", they have a good range of main meals and hot snacks as well sandwiches, cakes etc. Most importantly for this part of the country, they also have the regional staples of assorted pies with peas and gravy! That's what I came in for and it was excellent.Service was friendly and efficient and the prices most reasonable.I'd certainly come again.

I have been visiting Freedom Organics on a regular basis since Vicky stated out on Darwen Market. Vicky provides excellent food at a great price. The food is top class and always fresh and tasty. There is a good choice each day and something different and new to try. There are plenty of fresh and dried foods to buy to take home. Vicky enjoys sharing her vegan knowledge and is never too busy to say hello and have a quick chat.

Have noticed this cafe driving past for a while and kept meaning to visit. Today I called in and was amazed at how good the food is. Cafe is very clean and smart with a varied healthy menu. The Budha boxes looked very good and were very popular. I had the smashed avacado on sourdough toast with poached egg, bacon and mushrooms. It was very tasty and was well presented. The coffee is also very good here. There is something on the menu for everyone here and the prices are very reasonable. Service is also good with very pleasant staff. Will be visiting regularly in future. Thanks very Much Mike! We will look forward to your next visit.

We visited yesterday for lunch with a few hours child free. I have seen on Facebook people talking about the cheese and onion pie so I thought I'd give this place a go. The staff were really friendly, happy, cheerful ladies. And the atmosphere was really lovely. The food arrived really quickly and it was piping hot. The cheese and onion pie was amazing, the best I've had in a long time from a cafe. The biscoff cheese cake is highly recommended aswell!! We will definitely be visiting again!

We have been here a couple of times and both times we have had fantastic friendly service, and the food (especially the brekkie lol) has been brilliant, all freshly cooked and piping hot. Definitely worth a visit, we should be supporting the small businesses in our area.

Deli Carlo - Salumeria Italiano

Called in at lunchtime for a cuppa...but the warm welcome, scrumptious aromas soon changed my mind!! I ended up having a coffee (Americano) & biscuit, followed by a wrap (Spartacus) which was packed with a delicious mix of cheese & Mediterranean vegetables, followed by guess what, another wonderfully tasting coffee which this time came with a chocy. The service was friendly, effective & efficient. The dining area welcoming & cosy, but sufficient space, clean & tidy. The actual deli is filled with interesting buys. Really pleased I went. A rare gem in Darwen centre!
