We believe bringing good things together makes them even better, from fish and chips or brownies and ice cream to a cheeky gin and tonic. Along with freshly prepared dishes and delicious drinks, we offer a friendly service and great value. Cookhouse + Pub

This was only my second visit to the cookhouse but you honestly wouldn't think it was the same place I'd been to prior to this visit. Came with my partner and his mother. The drinks order took ages to arrive, my partners mum had a cappuccino and there was lipstick all over the cup. This was replaced when I caught the attention of the waitress, only to be replaced with a luke warm cappuccino albeit in a clean cup . The smothered chicken we had was fine, not so the lukewarm chips and soggy salad. My partners gammon was fine. Whereas on my last visit, the waitress and service was fab, popcorn brought with drinks and smarties before we left, along with a jug of water. Not at all impressed this time, in our haste to leave we forgot to ask for the parking refund. Will not be going back so don't bother leaving a reply. Hi,Thanks for your review. We're very sorry that you had a disappointing experience with us recently, especially as this was only your second visit with us.We pride ourselves on the great service and quality of food we provide and so it is sad to hear you were let down by the s,ow service, issues with drinks & chips and pretty much the overall experience. This certainly doesn't sound like the experience we would expect. Our team members do work hard to ensure every visit is perfect so we'd like to apologise our standards fell short on this occasion. Please be assured we have passed your feedback on to the General Manager of the restaurant to ensure this is addressed with the Chef and Serving Team so that this experience is not repeated going forward. In future, please do not hesitate to speak with the Duty Manager about any issues as they’d be happy to help whilst you are in-house.Once again, we apologise for the disappointment caused and hope that you will give us another chance in the future for a more enjoyable experience. Kind regards,Rebecca, Cookhouse & Pub

Whilst away camping we decided to go into Bridlingto for the day and have a meal. We chose Wild Bills as it ticked all the boxes for what we wanted for a family meal. On arrival we were meant to feel as if we should have booked but there were plenty of tables available. We had a very average meal and all three burgers tasted burnt. All in all a very average meal and I wouldn't recommend it unless nowhere else is available.

Came here last Friday with family.Nice place with plenty of space in-between tables and nice staff.I had the burger which was mostly good.It was served on a really soft lovely pretzel bun and the meat was nice. The outside of the burger had a nice crunchy 'crust' although strangely I burnt my mouth when taking the first bite as loads of steam came out of it. And the burger stayed boiling hot until I finished it, not sure how it was possible to be that hot in the first place! The meat tasted nice but did have a slightly strange texture, almost like a Quorn burger. I did check it a few times to make sure it really was beef but I'm quite sure it was.(I had a burger here a year ago which was amazing but unfortunately this time didn't match up with my previous experience)I paid extra to upgrade to the twice cooked chips. Not sure it was worth the upgrade. They were pale and could have been softer in the middle. Also paid to add cheese to the burger (which added to the chip upgrade and the base price of the burger made it not worth the money)Very good lasagne which came with two massive pieces of lovely garlic bread.Food did take a long time to arrive, but it was worth it.The service seemed a little slow in general.Asked for the bill and waited a while even though there were people free to do it, so maybe more of a communication issue. Eventually had to ask someone else for it!Overall a nice meal but there are a few pubs and restaurants in the area with same or better food quality for cheaper prices which I prefer.

Went to Richies for lunch a few weeks' ago and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was good, the staff were friendly and helpful and there was a lovely atmosphere. The younger ones who were obviously helping out during the school holidays were working very hard and are to be commended, as so often these days they do get a bad press. There is a bar area, a cafeteria area and I believe a take-away service. Portions are very generous and prices are very good. They have an ice cream parlour too and plenty of seating outside.

We visited this restaurant on a quiet Wednesday evening. We had seen it many times but this was our first visit. What a fantastic place. We ordered a bottle of wine and sat in the bar. We were brought some menus to look over but there was no rush to get to our table. Our order was taken a short while after and we were told they would come and seat us when the starters were due out. We were shown to a lovely table with a harbour view. A lovely setting before the sun went down. The food was amazing - my husband had the dressed crab to start and I the salmon and prawns. For main I had the chicken breast which came with new potatoes and fresh vegetables whilst my husband had the steak pie. Both meals were faultless. I had cheesecake for dessert which was lovely aswell. We were very impressed with everything about this restaurant. .. the service, food and location. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a positive review of your visit to Rags . Its lovely to hear everything was to your liking and you were well looked after by the team We look forward to seeing you again very soon

We recently paid our second-ever visit to The North Star restaurant, and it will definitely be our last, mainly due to staff attitude. When our party of four arrived at 7pm, the waitress was very prompt in taking our drinks orders. Sadly, its actual arrival was far from prompt, as we had to wait for almost half-an-hour, by which time we were all dying of thirst. On commenting to the waitress that we had been waiting a long time, far from apologising, her response was "You would have got it sooner if I had more than one pair of hands". Considering that the restaurant was only about a quarter full, this was far less than acceptable. A second less-than-polite waitress arrived to take our food orders, and could not disguise the fact that she was displeased over our long deliberations. Maybe they have to pay her extra to be pleasant. Only one member of staff, to whom we paid our bill, treated us like human beings rather than something nasty they had just scraped off their shoe. The food itself was nothing to write home about and overpriced. Our verdict was that none of us would ever set foot in there again. The following night we enjoyed a meal at the Viking Hotel across the road, which was far better value and with much friendlier staff.

Nice small warm cosy pubGood menu and still had roasts available when we got there at 6pm on Sunday.I had the 8oz burger. Really nice and meaty taste with a lovely charred outside which was nice and crunchy but still juicy and soft inside. It came with 3 giant lovely onion rings and a massive portion of salad. Then he said "I'll be back with your chips" and reappeared with a giant bowl of chips! The chips were lovely. Like fish and chip shop chips but not greasy at all, and lovely and soft inside. My wife had the fish and chips and it was the biggest portion of battered fish I've ever seen. And tasted great as well. Lovely light batter and really nice fish.My mother in law had the ham, egg and chips which was also a massive portion (she brought half the ham home!)Very good service, although a bit slow at times but they were very busy and it wasn't an issue as they were so friendly. The prices here are much cheaper than other pubs/restaurants in the area, but the food quality and portion sizes are also much better than other local places. We saw the dessert blackboard and everything sounded really nice, and also so much cheaper than other places, but we were so stuffed from the main courses we couldn't manage desserts.Unfortunately we're going home tomorrow otherwise we'd definitely eat here again, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.(Make sure you book as it gets busy)
