Rumi Wasi

Rumi Wasi (House of Stone) is a house with a colonial style built in the XVI century by Spanish conquerors and erected over Inca's terraces. The property was then bought by the San Roman-Vucetich family. Once the restoration was finished and after contemplating how beautiful it had been done, The San Roman-Vucetich family decided to share the warmth of its installations with Cusco visitors. Thus, we are waiting for you to enjoy a nice and comfortable atmosphere enriched for its architectural beauty, privileged view, history and tranquility.

Stunning property in the heart of Cusco!

Reviewed By Erin T

Manuel and his colleague Olga are the ultimate hosts in this stunning property mixing the Incan stone and Spanish colonial styles. With only a few rooms total in the hotel, we felt quietly secluded from the bustling streets of Cusco that were just steps from our door. Our room was spotless, the breakfast was fresh and delivered to our room right on time (but you can eat on the gorgeous terrace too!) and we used their laundry service which was a help and affordable help after coming off of the Inca Trail for four days. Honestly, it’s easily one of our best hotel experienced of our lives. Thank you Manuel!!

Phenomenal Boutique Hotel and Staff!

Reviewed By Godeepsand

Tocuyeros is a beautiful hotel set in a very tranquil location and only a few minutes walk from the Cusco historic center. Everything was fantastic - our room, the rooftop terrace, the dining facility. The courtyard felt like you were in an orchard! What made our stay a truly phenomenal experience was the very friendly and helpful staff (Antonio, Diego, Saul). Whatever you asked for, the answer was always "yes". The included breakfast was made to order and exceptionally good, including the fresh-squeezed orange juice and specialty coffees. Again, what you requested, they made it! We stayed 3 nights prior to our hiking trek to Machu Picchu and 1 night afterwards. We loved every moment of our time at Tocuyeros and would go back in a heartbeat!

The Hotel is located in the best possible position in Cuzco, exactly in front of the cathedral, in Plaza de Armas (probably, just because of his position, is more expensive than others hotels in town). The owner was very kind and helpful. Good breakfast included. Highly recommended!

A lovely place with very nice staff.

We actually stayed here at both the beginning and end of our Machu Picchu travel. The location is near the central Plaça de Ames, so walking was easy apart from the uphill location, for some. The staff was so accommodating and helpful throughout, including setting up taxi service, setting us up after a flight cancellation postponed our return home, and providing an excellent breakfast every morning. It was a pleasure having Gold Garden as our go-to home away from home as we experienced the magnificent Andes!

Apu Lodge is a boutique bed-and-breakfast located in the pedestrian Inca streets of the village of Ollantaytambo and its position on a terrace gives it a fantastic view from all rooms. It has spacious gardens, visited by humming birds, hammocks to relax in after your hike to Machu Picchu or other ruins, and is very peaceful. All rooms have views, private bathrooms with excellent shower and are furnished with simple elegance. Dinner is served in our restaurant. English spoken and excellent advice given on local sites, tours and taxis can be arranged. Please call from the plaza for assistance with luggage as there is no vehicle access.

A Mixed Experience in a Beautiful Setting

Reviewed By doctorbobster

Booked into the Apu Lodge by our travel company, we had a mixed experience. Plus: the grounds are beautiful and relaxing. The garden with hammocks and hummingbirds surrounded by the sound of wind and rushing water is striking. The lodge has a charming rustic feel. Breakfast was solid. It's a short walk to the central plaza and ruins. Negative: the sound isolation in each room is poor; get a second floor room so you do not hear the people above you. We had ants. The electrical outlet situation is poor. The WiFi is weak. The hot water ran out leaving only a cold shower. Ollantaytambo is a beautiful area and I would return to this village, but not to the Apu Lodge.

Add to Your Bucket List!

Reviewed By Z7652ZBkristenm

Add This To Your Bucket List! We added a night here to the end of our Peru trip for a different kind of adventure after our Sacred Valley & Inka Trail to Machu Picchu trek. It is a splurge but I think worth it as it is more than a hotel, it is an experience. Our nightly fee included breakfast & dinner (excellent) in their spectacular cliff top glass restaurant & bar and also optional (not for the faint of heart or unfit) zipline & climbing activities. (Although I would advise you to clarify what is included, what is not as it is not clearly stated anywhere that I could find. Also there is no indication of prices of mini-bar snacks in room or a printed menu with prices at restaurant and so we were surprised at check out with some shockingly high prices for lunch and Oreos & Pringles from the mini bar. It is our only complaint, but too bad to leave with a bit of a bad taste and feeling taken advantage of. Prices, especially when very high, should be listed so there are not unpleasant surprises at check out.) Having read about the other glass capsule hotel, Sky Lodge, I would say that this requires much less physical fitness & ambition to reach and offers more luxury and creature comforts. It is also in a very beautiful mountainside area away from the main road so no concerns with light pollution or noise from the highway below. Service was very friendly and excellent. Jose who runs it was super helpful. Our guide, who showed us around and led our activities was great. The restaurant staff was also very friendly and attentive. A taxi will take you up a winding mountain dirt road (30 minutes from train station) to the reception area where you will be warmly greeted with tea as you check in. You will leave any heavy bags here and pack your daypack with what you need for the night then your guide will take you on a 25 minute walk up a trail to the top of the mountain- you will be met half way up with a fresh passion fruit juice to enjoy while you rest & catch your breath- and then you will arrive at the mountaintop restaurant & bar. We had a very nice lunch here and marveled at the view before we were shown to our room. Even the bathrooms for the restaurant have a wall of glass for a breathtaking view. From here it’s a short but somewhat strenuous 5+ minute walk up a trail to your capsule or dome. Our capsule was pretty easy to access down a few steps, through the top hatch & down a ladder to the interior. (Some apparently require you wear a safety harness due to a more precarious entrance.) As long as you are steady on your feet and least somewhat fit you should be fine. It was divided into 3 sections with fabric shade dividers to pull down in case privacy is desired. But not a lot of privacy so…. It slept 4 people. There were 2 single beds in the center section & a large double (queen?) in the end section. At the other end was a large jacuzzi bathtub (we gave up trying to get it full of hot water) , sink & flush toilet. There was also a well stocked mini fridge (although bring your own if you don’t want to pay $8 for a small pack of 4 Oreos) & a tea kettle. (Didn’t use any so not sure if we would have been charged for the tea bags) Electricity & spotty Wi-Fi in the capsule. (Good Wi-Fi in the restaurant.) Water in sink filtered & drinkable. Windows open for ventilation which was necessary when the sun was out. Cold at night but comfortable beds & plenty of warm bedding. Curtains for privacy. Really very nice. Clean. A bit like living on a glass boat but with sky rather than sea around you. The views are just amazing. And thrilling. If you want a little less thrill but still the views and beauty, try the glass domes rather than the capsules. If you are in the area and can afford it, don’t miss it!
