I have been here serval times and it has always been good. The service has always been with a smile and I never really waited long for a good sub. One time I did go there the woman seemed to skimp on almost everything. I did ask her to add more, I mean come on don't be cheap, which she did. The place was clean.

We frequent the Subway in Deep River a great deal...mostly because of the $5 footlong. We have no problem with Subway Corp., but the ladies who work at this particular Subway are always rude and abrasive. They never smile or appreciate your business. Esp. since we support our local high schools football team who provide a card to receive a free beverage with purchase of a footlong sandwich, you'd think that they would be happy to see their customers using the card and providing regular business. But no, attitude emits only with presentation of the card. Oh and don't be surprised if you ask for bacon and you get a lecture about how it is a $1.00 more! As if the consumer can't read?! How insulting. Esp. if you go at least once a week and they recognize you. I'm sure the pricing hasn't changed in 4 days on bacon! Geez! Overall: Lose the attitude ladies! Oh and by the way, we don't support the hiring of underage workers...

Not far from I-95. Plenty of parking. Servers were cordial. We eat Subway grinders traveling across the country and this is one of the best.

If you want to breakfast at a place that treats you like family and serves up homemade food—from sausages to raisin bread, the Tea Kettle delivers. The General Manager, Lee, was especially nice. I had a homemade raisin bread French toast and link sausage —delectable! My husband’s omelette was “the best I’ve ever eaten” to use his own words.

The Wheatmarket

Lunch at The Wheatmarket, Chester, Connecticut is a most enjoyable experience. Owners, Dennis and Joan, have earned the patronage of many local residents for 29 years! Dennis specializes in making the soups; my wife and I savored Road Island Clam Chowder ($4.50) and Mulligatawny ($4.50), both DELICIOUS. The Mulligatawny was reminiscent of curry I recall when stationed in Thailand in the 70's (US Air Force); fortunately, the spices were muted to American taste. We split a Roasted Boar's Head Turkey Sandwich w/cheese and cranberry mayonnaise served on toast, also VERY GOOD. The food is high quality and reasonably priced; total bill, $19.00, lunch for two. ENJOY.

Dough on Main

Put simply, Dough on Main, offered good food, but we have now retired! Thank you to all who stopped in – whether only once, from time-to-time or once a day! We enjoyed 7 wonderful years delighting you!

Dough on Main was recommended to me by someone who is probably the most hyper-critical restaurant goer I have ever met. I trust her judgment and she eats here regularly. Well, she was right. The eggplant sandwich with pesto was delicious and substantial. I almost couldn't finish it, but it was so good, I couldn't stop. I will definitely be back to try the other sandwiches and homemade pastas. The place is small and has a homey vibe. There's one small table in the window (there are steps) and a larger dining table next to the coolers. Prices are on the high side for Connecticut (average or below-average for New York City), but totally worth what you are paying in terms of quality and freshness. I'm sold.Thank you for your great review. We are pleased that a savvy friend and regular customer enticed you to give us a try and that you were pleased. Your reaction to our food is one we continually strive for. Again, thanks! And we do hope you can visit again soon.

Casual waterfront dining located in the Brewer's Dauntless Shipyard. A bit hard to find but defintely worth the effort. Abby's Place serves American cuisine with a flair, specializing in fresh, locally sourced meats and seafood.

Terrific veggie burger with pesto. The crab soup was very good and the chicken sandwich was tasty. Our waitress was very accommodating as was the owner. Unfortunately the waiter had an issue when we arrived and asked not to be seated next to the door as it was very cold outside and didn’t want our two year old granddaughter to be subjected to that. We simply asked to be seated at the adjacent table that had a reserved sign on it when he told us that they had a reservation. We informed him that so did we and he didn’t seem to understand arguing that they had called ahead which we informed him that we did as well. Finally the owner came out of the kitchen and placed us at the “reserved” table we had asked for originally. It could have turned ugly but we appreciated the owner settling the issue.
