My wife and I joined three other people for dinner at 2 Hopewell to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of our dear friends. As soon as we felt the quiet ambience of the dining room, we suspected we were in the right place. The moment we were greeted by Caesar, our server, we were sure of it.From the Chopin martinis to the wine, from the burrata we all shared to start to each of our entrees, from our friend's birthday Creme Brûlée to the rest of our desserts, everything was as classy as it was delicious.Treat yourself (or a friend). Try it.

It’s hard to give an overall rating, since I always get the same thing. But I always get the same thing because it’s *my favorite dish anywhere*. And it’s their “Shellfish Pot,” served in a large cast-iron dish. Lots and lots of shellfish, great broth, and the pasta fits perfectly. Truly wonderful. Maybe their other stuff is terrific too, but I wouldn’t know!

Was impressed with this gastropub. A larger menu than I was expecting, very good service. It's very loud, though. Small, with lots of tables packed close together. If noise is a concern, I would suggest either going off-hours or going somewhere else.

Four us us arrived at about 4:00 for Happy Hour. When we seated outdoors, the waitress brought dinner menus. We asked for and received happy hour menus. The selections were such that to satisfy your appetite, you needed to order two. The calimari was especially delicious as were the sliders. The drinks were good as was the service. Before departing, we took a look inside the old building an met the owner who was an very interesting and informative person. All in all, we will be going there in the future. Old Wethersfield is a beautiful area in Connecticut and worth a visit just to see the homes.

SGB has long been our favorite Glastonbury restaurant. Truthfully, we miss some the atmosphere of its prior location, which was quirkier and to our mind more casual. But, the new spot is spacious, beautiful, and service is much improved. And the food is still fantastic. Prices are fair considering the portion size and quality. I recently transitioned to a vegan diet, and this was our first visit since completing that transition. They have multiple options, most of which require omitting or substituting an ingredient. Staff are knowledgeable about the options and helpful. I had the twisted falafel with hummus, with the tzatziki sauce left off. The falafel was fresh and perfectly prepared. And, they left off the side of coleslaw without my having asked them to do so. It's great to see one of my favorite spots being so accommodating to vegans. The rest of the family (omnivores, all), enjoyed their selections, too.

My husband loves the ever changing craft beers list and we both like the staff and the food. We eat here usually 1-2 times a week! Only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is because other than the daily special, the menu never changes. A little more variety would be great.

This is a specialty burger restaurant but they can not produce a decent burger. We ordered the night’s special, a cheese burger with fried pancetta and caramelized onions and the bacon cheeseburger with cheddar and caramelized onions. The former came well done as ordered. The other one was ordered medium which was described as just a little pink but it came as quite rare. The caramelized onions were cold and had no flavor. Both burgers despite their fancy presentation were tasteless. One of us ordered the mixed green salad which had nice fresh greens but absolutely tasteless dressing. The French fries were crisp, and nicely seasoned but were served cold. All told a very disappointing meal. The service was good. There were few customers at 5:30. We will not be back.Hi Discriminating_8,We are disheartened to read that your experience with us was less than satisfactory. From your review we can completely empathize with your disappointment in the meals. In an effort to ensure that no other guests receive tasteless entrees we would like to gather some further information from you. If you could please provide us with your best contact email we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again for the remarks and we look forward to the opportunity of corresponding with you.

This is a terrific place for seafood lovers.I had the bouillabaisse ($28), although it had a different name on the menu. It is a mix of a small lobster, mussels, clams, etc. Delicious. One of our group had lobster pasta ($25)and another the halibut ($32). Everyone raved about their food choice. We shared starters of a very good fried calamari and 6 Noank oysters. I can't blame Max Fish for the size of the oysters which were very small. They seem to be like that everywhere. I haven't had a plump oyster since I was in Paris and Tokyo, two places where you don't mess around with food quality. There are menu choices for those who don't like seafood. The cocktails were expertly created. Our waitress was very nice and a pro.

Every month a friend & I choose a place for breakfast or lunch. This month it was Ken's. We got there at 8:30 and got one of the few empty tables. By 9:00 the place was packed with 15 to 20 people waiting. We both ordered a pancake with my friend ordering hash and I added the home fries. The pancake was as big as a frizzbee and was hanging off the plate. He pancake was very good and the home fries were outstanding. My friend finished his hash which he throughly enjoyed. I'm glad we tried Ken's and would be happy to go again.

Another great evening at J Gilbert’s—a super way to wrap up the Labor Day holiday weekend. Martinis were excellent and 1/2 price wine on Mondays is hard to beat. Fabulous buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad to start followed by a sirloin steak for hubby and filet & shrimp combo for me. Totally awesome and Rob, our server, made it a relaxed and wonderful evening with dinner in the bar—our favorite. We have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Thanks for a great time. Can’t wait to return.
