Passed by this place after a horrendous day on the golf course, and must say that the food was surprisingly decent. My expectations were low given that we were on a street that was bumper to bumper with restaurants. But we started with a plate of ham, anchovies with olives and a pickle which were good, patatas bravas which the sauce was surprisingly refreshing and then chuleton which was OK (nothing to write home about). Coffee was good and in general it is worth a trip. Service is OK.

Restaurante Alilian

The menu is short by the area standards and includes a number of starters, fish and meat entrees. There was no “menú del día” and the waiter didn’t offer anything in particular, so we ordered a tomato and tuna salad (ensalada de tomate con ventresca) as starter to share. A small, non-descript potato salad tapa (ensaladilla rusa), courtesy of the house, arrived immediately. The tomato salad was different, though. I’m no fan of kumato, but this salad was excellent. Likely the best I’ve had in ages. Not sure what the secret sauce is here but contributing factors surely include thin belly flakes (rather than the solid blocks preferred by cooks showing off their product rather than their skills), superb olive oil and, most notably, a healthy dose of tomato pulp to ensure not a single ventresca bite feels dry.My main entrée was “cahopo”, a sort of cordon bleu from Asturias, which I had ordered out of curiosity and impulse. It looked singularly out of place given there wasn’t any other obviously Asturian choice on the menu and Alilian felt a little stiff-necked for a dish that is typically judged by weight rather than quality. Its presentation kind of proved the cook felt the need to dress the humble cachopo in some haughtier fashion: fine-grain breading, French potatoes as a side dish stuffed in a tin can, an oversized plate with a smear of reddish sauce all around its meter-long circumference. Despite the looks, the cachopo proved a great choice; tender and juicy, flushed with strong, oozy cheese, intense and yet not overloaded with oily bread. The over-indulgence notwithstanding, I accepted sharing a cheesecake for dessert. The waiter warned us the cheese was particularly strong and he was right. I love strong cheeses, but somehow the mature, moldy flavors of whatever cheese it was they used to bake this particular cake overpowered the sweetness and fruitiness I´ve come to expect from a cheesecake. In any case and overall, a very pleasant experience. And yet, in retrospect I got the feeling the place still lacks identity, something to be famous for, a reason to go back. It turns out the restaurant is affiliated with a Ribera del Duero winery. So maybe that distinction is in the wines, and dishes are selected based on how they pair with specific types or vintages. Too bad if that is the case, for I do not drink wine.

We went to this restaurant after reading how good the meat is and what a great restaurant this is. Unfortunately we didn't have the same experience. When we went there we were the only customers for at least an hour, since we went early (8.30pm) for spanish standards. Still we had to ask to be given the menus and everytime we needed the waiter we had to wait for a while for him to show up.The appetizers were excellent but the meat was average, the price was good but all in all it was not worth the driving.

Probably just missed a bit of quantiry and service was not always the best. We went here for a friends dinner. Had dinner at the terrace in a very nice and spacious table. We asked for several starters to share. The most surprising the tomato salad, really tasty and different to everything you had tastes before. Then a cochinillo as a main. Really nice. All separated from the bone and served as a cake, lovely taste and nice presentation. The star dish of the house.Good wine list as well, we drunk dehesa de los canonigos and emilio moro. One bottle was not good and the reaction was probably mot as friendly as i expected. In geneal the service from the person attending us was not always great. Slow, rude sometimes.. But was not the main tonic in the dinnerI would recomend the property to eliminate the water sprays, as they are very good for the heat but not ao good for the food and the wineI will repeat as i liked the food a lot. Lets see if they watch out on the service piece

We are here a couple of days ago, booked a table through the fork and tripadvisor a few hours before going. The place is very nice, small but well distributed and decorated. Tables are a bit too close and business people eating there can be noisy and a bit annoying.. But regardless, the food is just spectacular. Service was quick and in no time we were eating the aubergine, amazing and tasty but not salty like it can be at some other Italian restaurants; the truffle ravioli were the best we have ever tried, and the lemon spaghetti were surprising and fresh, very very good and different. Tiramisu and pannacotta were incredible, real Italian food in the heart of Boadilla. The limoncello they offer you at the end is THE REAL THING! Only tried something like that in Italy, it is unforgettable! The only fault is the price, a bit too high I think, but despite that we will be back sometime for another treat!
