Very basic in everything

Reviewed By Ainars B

We stayed there for one night on our way to Croatia. It's outdated, with very basic beds, extremely tiny shower room, noisy corridor doors. Breakfast was good when you got something - needed to wait at least 5 minutes even for butter, eggs, etc.

Had a hard time giving this hotel a 3 star rating, poor experience

Reviewed By Lisa D

This "hotel"l was tough to review. On the one hand, it is very close to the town center (which is where we needed to be), was clean, quiet, and affordable. It felt more like an upscale hostel than a hotel to me, but was adequate. On the other hand, even armed with the knowledge that the hotel was hard to find, we had what can only be described as a stressful nightmare finding it. The problem was that we were running behind schedule, arrived after dark, and received a call from the hotel employee on duty around 19:10 that she was leaving at 7:30 p.m. (19:30) regardless of whether we were there or not. She did not speak english, but even with a fluent polish speaker in our group, her directions were not clear. The hotel is not visible from any road- ANY ROAD - but located up a hill BEHIND a beautiful old building that is used for other purposes as well, such as classes. When we arrived where we thought we were supposed to be, the fences/gates that would have allowed us to drive our bags up the hill closer to the hotel entrance were locked and we therefore couldn't drive up the steep hill. We had to park in a public lot at the bottom of the hill (where we weren't sure if we were allowed to park all night), and had to carry our suitcases up a very steep hillside wooden staircase because the elevator was broken. It looked like it had not worked for some time. I thought that we would arrive too late and be locked out or unable to check in, so I was running around the place looking for the entrance. When we found it, it was clear that the woman had already left for the night, although she did leave the front door of the "hotel" open for us to enter, and the room key out on the counter with no note or explanation. In the morning, we had to leave on the earlier side - around 09:00 - and there was nobody there to check us out so we left the key at the front desk and went on our way. The room itself was very basic and did not include soap/shampoo, but did have a couple of clean towels thankfully. The beds were uncomfortable but again, it was clean and adequate for one night. There are no amenities (no breakfast, elevator, night employees). If we would have arrived earlier before it was dark or before the gates up the hill closed, or before the employee had left, things might have been more pleasant all around. But that is not what happened, and this experience ended up very stressful in a number of ways. And I am a frequent, avid traveler who knows how to navigate. If you don't have a problem with any of the things I've mentioned and feel confident that you will find the hotel, then go for it. I would not stay here agin, nor would I ever let someone I know stay here, but I have rated the hotel as "average" because it gets the job done if you can locate it.

Food and room

Reviewed By shetheworld

We stayed overnight on a quick side trip from the 2019-2020 World Juniors and loved it! The room was all we needed and the food was excellent! Split dumplings, had cabbage rolls and pork goulash on potato pancakes and the servings were large ( as we will be if we keep eating like this!!!) ? Loved this spot..... also it’s right beside “Little Venice” which offered a nice pre dinner walk ?

Lovely and Quaint

Reviewed By 784bekid

The hotel matches the town - quaint, quiet and comfortable. Very good location, near the main square. Despite language barriers, the reception staff managed to answer all our questions very well. Bed was very large and comfortable, we booked a room with its own bathroom (I recommend this). No problems with check-in, staff waited for us despite train delays we had. Great pizzeria a few doors down too.

Best for a single traveller - couples forget it

Reviewed By M_Cat_Cambs

The good stuff: Located in the very centre of Cieszyn, it offers quick access to main square, restaurants, pubs and boutique shops. It is practically walking distance to Czech side of Cieszyn. If you have a luggage, it's probably best to take a short ride by a taxi. Room will suite single traveller with ascetic approach to life, although this certainly could have been achieved at far modest fee elsewhere. Buffet breakfast offers staple food, on style of 'make-your-own' sandwich. If you are a couple: avoid it, as your romantic cuddles will be on a single bed, while your moans might be enjoyed by your neighbours through the paper-thin walls. Nice touch though is a under floor heating in the bathroom. The not so good: Check-in process requires one to text the estimated arrival time, meaning hotel reception is not manned as stated. This also proved cumbersome when 'ambient' music from a speaker in the hall wasn't turned down at night: I needed to text the hotel to tell them to turn it off - it just played local rock music -- try to sleep to that! Please note that the Shower tray is 50x50cm (20"x20"), which for a 6ft tall makes it tad awkward. Also, room does not have any hooks to hang a jacket or rain-coat - just 3 hangers, which I used for shirts but no hooks - you are literally given no option but to hang clothes on a chair (not great when you are coming back from the rain). Worth mentioning is a fact that this hotel is close to Clock Tower, with a bell regularly announcing the time every 15min (OK if you are used to - pain if not).
