The Terrace

Reviewed By Paul B

I am conflicted because I enjoyed the Terrace every morning. Their breakfast buffet is a brilliant mix of western and Japanese with some of the tastiest salads I've experienced. I also loved making waffles every morning. The egg station makes omelets of all varieties. Alternatively, the scrambled eggs are always perfect.
The negative comes at dinner. The buffet part of the meal is not altogether different from breakfast. The main dish in the evening is pasta. I had the squid and pasta is a sort of pesto. It was really not very good.
Behind Hotel the Manhattan is The Plena, which contains loads of restaurants, including some western style. Near the train station is a stripe of restaurants containing an Irish/British pub and some very good Japanese and Chinese restaurants. The only warning is be prepared to look at plastic presentations or pictures in the menu. English is not common amongst staff and the menus make no concession for the language.
Overall, have breakfast at the hotel; you will not be disappointed. However, do not waste money on the evening meal when other options are plentiful.

Nice place, friendly and quick service and most important good steaks. I found this place by accident close to my hotel. Nice Australian style, comfortable. The music was a bit outdated but reminded me log the good old times. Food was very good, price ok.

Ssitar

Indian Food Restaurant Sitar
Location: Ground Floor 1-106-16,Kemigawatyo,Hanamigawa ward, Chiba City
Reservation: You cannot make a reservation(But you need it for take-out)
Price: Not too expensive but not cheap 1200yen-2000yen
Hours: Lunch 11:30 to 15:00 Dinner 15:00 to 22:00 (This is closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.)
Dishes: Traditional Indian food

This restaurant is well-known for really nice Indian curry in Chiba. The owner is Japanese, but he went to India to study/learn about Indian cuisine. Also, the chefs are all native (looks). As far as I know, Sitar always appears in Chiba walker. (Chiba walker is a magazine which has many good stores or restaurants information.) Sitar is located near the Keisei Kemigawa Station, if you use the JR line, you have to walk for about 15minutes. However you will not find it far, if you eat their amazing food.
Sitar’s arrangement makes me feel like I am in a real Indian restaurant, it has some Indian goods and a really good atmosphere. It is not a big place so I could feel comfortable. All staff wear Indian clothes and they were really polite and sensible/smart, so service is perfect. What is more, the cuisine is astonishingly good. The food smells attractive, looks delicious and tastes fantastic. Also the kitchen is open-style, so you can see them cook and it is interesting.
Their cuisine was really good, I had a Sitar Lunch set and mango lassi there, the lunch set included 2 sorts of curry(you can choose from the menu) and naan(you have to pay extra 100yen) or cooked rice(you can choose Japanese one or Indian one.) also a desert. That was good enough for me to be satisfied. In that time, I chose the butter chicken curry, mutton curry and naan. Actually I like curry so much, but they were different curries to those I had eaten before. Butter chicken one was really mild and flavor of butter sharpened my appetite. The mutton one was a bit hot but not too much. It was hot and spicy enough for me to enjoy Indian curry. In addition, naan gave off a pleasant smell. It cost about 1200yen, I thought it is not expensive. You can get pleasure from them which have an agreeably pungent taste. They have many kinds of curry, some are really hot and spicy, but the others are really mild. However, on the whole, they are all palatable.
If you like curry, you must go there try it.

Nothing different with another Tenya restaurant all over Kanto area. Price is low (500-1000 yen), tempura quality is good. Some seasonal menu. Place for salary-man to have a quick lunch before catching the train in Kaihin Makuhari station just accross it. If you are tourist and don't want to spend big money on food, this is the place to go. Cheap and good taste and so Japanese. English menu is available.

Ocean Table

Reviewed By Kuisic - Chiba, Japan

If there is the person who is looking for a good restaurant, I strongly recommend this restaurant.
First of all, you can eat variety of dishes and sweets. There are western food, Chinese food, and Japanese food. Especially, I like roast beef. It is slices thinly, the degree of burning is moderate and seasoning is perfect. Also I satisfied with many kinds of sweets. You can eat cakes, gelato, and jelly. I think every meal and desert is really excellent.
The second reason why I like this restaurant is the location. It is near to the sea, so you can get a nice ocean view from the Terrace. It is also near from the Chiba minato station and it takes only 5 minutes to go there.
The most important thing is that the atmosphere of the restaurant is very good. There are large space and there are 260 seats, so you will feel easy even if it is crowded. Furthermore, the stylish space based on a tree and a palm tree creates the atmosphere as if you came to the resort. I felt relaxed very much with the wide and comfortable space.
I agree that this restaurant is crowded at lunch time, but you can eat lunch without queuing if you go there when the restaurant opens. When I went to this restraint at 10:00 a.m., I could have a lunch with no wating time. Therefore, I recommend you to go early.
For these reasons, I strongly believe that it is worth going because you can have wide variety of delicious dishes in the stylish and relaxing space.
