not quite up to 5* standards: limited choices (understandable, just husband & wife) and presentation not quite there. Reserve ahead to sit downstairs and go early before Madame gets overwhelmed and things slow down.

Business trip to Chalon sur Soene for myself and 2 colleagues, googled best restaurants in town and there seemed to be a cluster in Rue de Strasbourg so we headed in that way and found Le Bourgogne. Very attentive and helpful staff, my French is at best inadequate. The food was superb and good value compared to the quality and presentation. Finished of with great cheeses and delicious Deserts.

4 of us had an excellent dinner at the Clown Gourmand for a reasonable amount given the quality of the food. They menu was flexible and varied and their wine selection was adequate if not enormous. We would all gladly have eaten there again.

We arrived 19:03 for a table we had booked for 19:15 to be told that nothing would happen until 19:15 - my first thoughts were " typical French attitude where the customer does not count"
But once service started at the allotted time it was really good service and the food was really good too.
We took the 24€ menu - I started with marinated mackerel fillets which were really sublime, followed by salmon which was cooked to perfection and tasted great and to finish raspberry tiramisu.
It was fantastic value for money and the good service during the meal dispelled my first impressions.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

We arrived before 20.00 and were the first there - then by 20.30 nearly every table was full on a Tuesday evening. This restaurant is closed Saturdays and Sundays, so I guess that just about says it all - the food is good enough that people will come during the week. Not to say that they are arrogant - indeed the service was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere and decor are of a traditional bistro but the quality of the food, and the prices, are on the higher side. Portion sizes are small, so don't skip lunch if you are coming here for dinner!
On balance I prefer the Amaryllis at St Remy where in my opinion ther food is better and the atmosphere is more formal. However I will definitely return here.

I have been there three times and I have to say I have enjoyed every time, but I also noticed the service was really poor. The waitresses basically never smile, they barely speak, and make the restaurant unfriendly. Also, it gets really hot in the restaurant most of the time. Nevertheless, they serve great food, the burgers are good even though a little bit pricey, but it's worth it.

We landed in this restaurant because the top restaurants suggested on Trip Advisor were all closed on monday. So glad that this was the case as this little gem was really good. Lovely food, great staff. The chef visited each table and made sure his guests were looked after. All the courses were well presented and very tasty. I would most certainly be happy to advise à visit to Le Bresero during à stay in Chalon sur Saône ...

We have visited the Aromatique at least ten times this summer as a couple and in groups of up to 11 guests. There is not a restaurant in the whole of France that offers better value for money. Every dish is a work of art. If you live, work, or visit Chalon-sur-Saone, you must visit this extraordinary eating place.

My wife and I had an absolutely fabulous lunch here during a trip through France. Every detail of this charming little restauran is perfect! The atmosphere is refined, modern and artistic. Nadine, the pastry chef who also served us was wonderfully accommodating and helpful. And the food was just Devine. The menu is small, but everything we had was superb. There are only seven tables; get one if you can!
