The Cafe de l'Hotel de Ville at Chinon is an average coffee shop which serves basic food when they are in the mood. It has changed hands several times in the last ten years. There has been a bit of refurbishment inside, but the attitude is not to my taste. BUt this is a very personal thing. Smokers are encouraged to sit outside and smoke which they do in all weathers and in the coldest winter temperatures. There is also quite a wind that comes off the nearby River in the winter. If you need a coffee, this cafe will do, but I can't think of anywhere else to suggest in Chinon that's much better. Instead, I would suggest, take sandwiches and a thermos flask of your own! This is not as daft as it sounds since the local authorities have provided wooden tables and benches off the roadside where people can picnic if they wish. Bon appetit!

Bon accueil, on voit bien que le gérant aime son métier et nous fait découvrir avec convivialité les différents vins qu'il propose. Chaque année lorsque nous montons avec ma famille dans la région, nous nous servons qu'à lui. Je recommande ses vins !
