Founded in 1843 by a group of immigrants from the then independent state of the Grand Duchy of Baden (later incorporated into Germany), it is characterized by the maintenance of the cultural imprint of their origin, so it is called "the Germany of the Caribbean". The economy depends primarily on agriculture and tourism; and the town is located 42 km (26 mi) from Caracas. The Colonia is known for its temperate crops (peaches, strawberries, beets, cauliflower, carrots, cabbage, chard, broccoli, lettuce, onions and potatoes) and their derivatives. Since 1990 it has shown a high rate of population growth, rising from 3,373 to 21,000 inhabitants in 2016.

Fomos recomendados pelo pessoal do hotel e não nos arrependemos. Boa opção em Maracay para sair dos mesmos para quem sempre almoça em restaurantes, menu diferenciado com opções de massas, carnes tudo com um preço amigável. Os pratos são bem servidos. Só peca por poucas opções de frutos do mar.

I spend a weekend with my husband making a tour in this beautifull Germán village. We took this italian restaurant we ate pastiche and a cacerola with a nice César salad. The restaurant is located in a hotel with same name few blocks from the entrance.

I have had dinner here twice, and it has been always great.The gnocchi and the boccatini are delicious. A good local friend says the pizza is delicious.If in Maracay, and wondering where to eat, you will not be disappointed.

They make their pizzas fast, and they all take the same time in the oven. This means if you order yours with 2-3 ingredients, it will be perfect. Too many ingredients, they don't broil so well. Having uncooked bell pepper on your pizza is not nice. Pepperoni pizza is good.
