Litochoro (Greek: Λιτόχωρο, Katharevousa: Λιτόχωρον) is a town and a former municipality in the southern part of the Pieria regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it has been part of the Dio-Olympos municipality, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It is located at the base of Mount Olympus, on the western shore of the Thermaic Gulf. The first recorded mention of Litochoro is in an account of a visit by Saint Dionysius (Greek: Άγιος Διονύσιος) to Mount Olympus in the 16th century. The town is a popular destination for those wishing to climb Mount Olympus as almost all climbing routes begin to the southwest of the town.

We have now eaten here three times. First time my main course arrived before I had barely started my appetiser, although the Pork from the Stable was great. Second time I had a beef steak on the bone that was so rare it nearly walked to the table on its own. Tonight my Pork was raw in the middle and the rest was cold. So, not a place I would go back to. Therefore itâs a terrible score from me

Went here after looking at TA reviews. A short uphill walk from the main square and tucked away around a corner. Village taverna with bi-fold doors allowing for 4 tables just outside and probably 8 inside. The most annoying thing we find in local places is that the owners tend to invite local men in to watch football on the tv. Here the owner clearly had more interest in his friends and the football than the paying guests which was a shame. The food was actually very good although when bringing out my wifes sea bass he apologised that they had cooked 2 small fish as they didnt have a larger one. All well and good but given 2 lots of bones, the actual meat content was scant. I had a meat dish which was absolutely fine, as was the wine served in the anodised metal jug. The place lacked any personality until the football finished and the locals got up from their chairs to go home, presumably to a meal cooked by their wives! Then the owner seemed to gain more interest in his customers. He became quite jovial at times and promised a larger fish if we returned later in our holiday......we didn't.

Fresh homemade food. Very very good. Pleasant, courteous and efficient service. Great value too and highly recommended. The stuffed peppers are amazing, the moussaka light and perfect tasting. It is another world sitting on the veranda on a warm summer night.

This little hidden gem was fantastic. Hidden somewhat down in the valley behind town it is absolutely worth the walk down if you want great mezes and drinks. Sit out on the terrace for a great vibe full of locals and a more modern scene which might be a good break from the standard sit down heavy meal routine. Absolutely a must...Thanks a lot for your review.

This has to be my favourite fish restaurant in Pieria. And this is a big statement with so many great fish restaurant options that the area is offering. The fish is always fresh and all the dishes are delicious and of high Quality. Try sardela. It is the best I ever tried. Try also fish soup it is amazing! The atmosphere is cosy. If the weather is good, have a table in the garden. I recommend it for both lunch and dinner with your partner, with friends or with the whole family. It is great for all the occassions. The Service is excellent and the stuff very friendly. They offer you delicious sweets at the end. I highly recommend this place if you love fish and high Quality Food!Thank you so much for your review, hope you had a wonderfull time in "Ellinikon" and we would love to see you again!

We booked here for our evening meal the night before our trek, and I checked before hand that there would be vegan options for my wife. When we saw the menu, there was even a specific vegan menu, which consisted of a soup, a salad and a main, which was chick peas and mushrooms, so I chose a fish soup (lovely warm flavour), a 'Gastrodromio' greek salad (all the ingredients, presented beautifully, with feta cheese whipped into a foam - truly michelin star class) and fish for a main, served on a bed of ratatouille. Excellent presentation and flavours throughout. My wife's menu was similarly superb, with truffle flavour in the main dish, and her's also included a sugary treacle dessert which we shared. A great bottle of wine to go with it too, from a huge choice. Excellent food and service.

ExcellentWe had the opportunity to visit the place twice. Both of the times the quality of the food was excellent as well as the service and the whole atmosphere of the place. On arrival we immediately felt welcomed and that the owner genuinely wants to provide the best eating experience. The food was fresh and plentiful. We especially liked the sea bass, calamari, fried zucchini and Greek salad.Highly recommended.
