In town for a celebration tonight, and happened upon this charming, little cafe on a side street. The sandwiches are fresh and generous and the baked goods are to die for! Seems like a place where "everyone knows your name!" Great little find!

The Brae Loch Inn

We had never been to the brea loch inn so we thought we would go for there prime rib/ seafood buffet on a Thursday night. We made a reservation for 730 and we had no trouble getting seated when we got there. We asked to be seated outside but when we got to our table we were 10ft from the road and the noise of the cars was not pleasant. So we asked to go inside. There was 2 other parties of 2 inside and the rest of the restaurant was empty. I ordered an Innis and Gunn ale and the waitress came back and said they were all out. I was looking forward to that beer it is hard to find. We both got the buffet and we were both kind of disappointed. They had a lot of salad and fillers but not a lot of entree items. Yes they had prime rib and it was good but not a lot else. They had perl and eat cold shrimp and a cold salmon fillet. They had steamed mussels and a few steamed clams but they were hard to get. They had a couple of different pastas and sauces. We just were not a fan of the food.
The restaurant is in drastic need of a remodel inside and out. The place is very very old.
Our waitress must have been new because she was terrible. I know we got the buffet but I would like to see our waitress once in awhile. We asked another waitress for our bill. Our waitress brought it to us and I would not let her leave without taking my credit card. I was afraid she would disappear again. We will not be trying this restaurant again but there is a couple more in caz I would like to try.

When it's nice outside, sit outside. The inside is also lovely, but when there is entertainment, you can't talk because it's too loud. The food is mostly good but some menu items are much better than others. The crab cakes are surprisingly deelish since Cazenovia is not near a coast. The burger sliders are very good, too. I also enjoy the French onion soup and steak salad on greens although greens are a bit skimpy. You have to learn the menu and be selective. Wine is of course good and very reasonably priced by the glass or bottle.
