Once you enter this little bottega, you feel a warm welcome of an almost 80 year old family-run restaurant...Set just next to the beautiful vineyards of the southern chianti classico area (Lornano) you will experience delicious food (all picks from the menu are great (we have been here twice for dinner; once for lunch, and were never disappointed ) and -of course- great wines (we took the house wine: the produce their own wine). Please do not forget order a dessert...they are soooooo good!!PS. if you have the time before sunset, have a walk around the area (go behind the restaurant to start the walk) through the vineyards (approx 3km walk)What a nice pleasure to read those kind words. As i said the first time that you came, For us and our job, there's nothing better of meeting people that understand what you are trying to do with you daily work. As we were stay at this place we decided to try the restaurant and we ate twice (it currently closes on a Tuesday). The menu changes daily as it is based on what is locally available. The food we had was delicious and unusual. Service was great (Mario) and the menu items were well explained. The wine choice is their own produce but it is excellent - again explanations are given. Our first night had us as the only guests but on our second visit there were three groups. As this is still well before the "season" it is not surprising but can imagine it being popular when doors and windows can be opened out.Recommended.Dear nsander219,thank you for the nice words spent to our restaurant.We are glad and flattered for you very kind feedback. We use only natural techniques to fertilize our soil and the property itself has solar panels and 3 wells. The restaurant boasts of a typical tuscan menu and we strongly believe in the importance of using exclusively local products. Effectively in May 2018, a new synergic and organic vegetable garden has grown, a real small eco-system which requires no treatments, no tractor, no kind of invasive working: the soil regenerates with mulch and the plants themselves. We went here based on a recommendation from another restaurant and we loved it. Our server was friendly and very helpful with our choices. Three of us had their beef stew with roast potatoes and mixed grill vegetables and it was delicious. My husband had beef with arugula and parmigiana cheese and it was cooked to perfection. The cheese cake Sonia was also very good. We ate on there patio and it was a great experience!

We had lunch here while staying nearby and really enjoyed it. The food/wine was good/reasonably priced and the service excellent. The outside location was good as it was a hot day and we were very comfortable.

We made an email reservation for lunch about a month in advance because we wanted an outdoor table on the terrace. When we visited, in early October, many tables were available so we could have easily walked in as well. Once seated outdoors, we were suprised to find that the terrace didn't have a view, as other's have stated in their reviews. The terrace had an internal view of the hamlet buildings with white drapery blocking the intense sun. Even in October the sun was blaring hot, too hot to sit outside at midday. We requested to move inside and were quickly accomodated.The indoor dining area is split up into many lovely rooms decorated with modern touches. We loved the juxtaposition of the extremely old historic castle decorated with modern lighting, furniture, fabrics, etc.The lunch menu was great; so many items to choose from. We wanted to order them all!Outstanding dishes were the lasagna and beef cheeks stewed in red wine. Oh, and the wine is incredible! We each ordered different wines by the glass to accompany our lunch because we wanted to sample them all.After lunch, we went down to the Enoteca to try a glass of the L'apparita, which we shared overlooking the vineyard. The Enoteca faces the vineyard, however, the lunch terrace did not. Definitely save time to stroll around the tiny medieval hamlet. It's it truly gorgeous!.The experience was first class and we will definitely go back on our next trip to Chianti Classico region. It was one of the top memorable meals of our trip.Also, you can buy candles and room frangrances in the Enoteca Shop to take home!This restaurant is not for the tourist masses; it's a unique experience!

The restaurant is just off 222, on the way to Siena. Fonterutoli is a very small town but the restaurant is high quality with a nice ambiance. All the food was excellent except for the endive, which was bad. Parking is readily available off the street.

This is an average restaurant serving basic local dishes. Fine if you are local, but not worth a special visit. Maybe we were disappointed after all the glowing previous reviews. It is OK, but not special. There are better restaurants a few miles away.

Failing to get in here on a Saturday made us think it might be special but basically everywhere, it turned out, is busy then. When we went midweek we were the only diners for a while. The menu is on the basic side and what we had was fine but not exciting. Rustic and tasty sums it up.

We were a group of 11 and sat on the enclosed porch section. Lovely meal and the wait staff was accommodating and helpful. We chose this place because we were staying rather close by but, having eaten there, would happily go back. I have read other reviews and don't understand ...everyone was very nice to us - we were clearly speaking English and were a mixed group of Americans, Swiss, German and Canadians. The chef spoke to me when I went to look at the kitchen (spectacular wood burning stove!). All in all a solid choice.

My wife and our three daughters have just had a fantastic dinner at Il Locale Di Guido. My wife and I shared a 1kg Fiorentina Steak, 2 daughters had Filet Steak and the little one had local pasta. We had a small bottle of wine and desserts. Everything was excellent. The service was great too. The entrance to the restaurant is a little peculiar but the dining area itself is lovely. We highly recommend.
