La table du pareur

Reviewed By Dr Benjamin P

The owner opened up especially for a lunch group we attend on occasion and we all enjoyed ourselves greatly. Villeneuve is another cute Minervois village and this is a popular spot amongst friends although this was the first time we had been. On a hot day, being outside was a bonus, sheltered by large umbrellas.A bonus for those with little or no French is that the owner speaks English. Beyond this, the food is good and a cross between rustic/country and elegant. We also had excellent bottled local wine - red and white - which kept coming. Parking may be challenging in the immediate vicinity of the restaurant although there are spaces off the narrow street. However, there is a large parking area coming into the village from the direction of Caunes-Minervois and public toilets and the restaurant is barely a five minute walk away. All up, well worth trying!

Restaurant was recommended to us, so we were looking forward to eating there.Quite big but would book in high season as it's the only one in Trausse.Food was fresh with plenty of choices. Two menu choices (3 courses) one 20€, the other 32€.Food was good but very salty - bit of a pity as one of our party couldn't eat theirs as a result.

The new La Mangeoire has only been open a couple of months, and already it's a great restaurant and doing well! The owners, Eric Marque and wife Pascale, are so welcoming and charming and have created a real gem. The food is wonderful and moderately priced, and the ambience is so warm and inviting, you feel as though you're having dinner at the home of friends. If you're planning to be in the Minervois area, you'd do well to plan a dinner at La Mangeoire. You'll leave with a happy stomach and heart!

Nice alfresco dining atmosphere in the courtyard of this quiet little village eatery. Friendly and efficient staff, varied menu, with good range of dishes available including the mandatory cassoulet. We opted for a simple smoked trout starter served on a bed of salad leaves, which whilst simple was more than ample for a first course. For mains we chose the plat du jour which was pan fried veal in a herb sauce served with ratatouille and home made frites. Whilst served a little cool, it was quite tasty. Dessert was disappointing - a raspberry bavarois which was obviously bought in and very bland. Perfectly acceptable house wine and great selection of tea infusions.Reasonable value and honest French Fayre.

The restaurant at the Hotel d'Alibert in Caunes-Minervois is a beautiful, elegant restaurant with food that can simply be described as fabulous! The asparagus soup was the best soup of any kind I've ever had. There's a gorgeous, romantic garden which would be wonderful to dine in too if the weather is good. If you're lucky, the owner, Frederique, will be there to regale you with local knowledge and tales of his time spent in the US. While not inexpensive, this is a very special place that you won't regret treating yourself to.

Portions are plentiful and tasty and the prices are very reasonableas well as being clearly posted. Well worth a visit.

What a gem! We'd tried the pizzas before (which were great!) so went for the salmon tartiflette and fish of the day, which was octopus served with salad, rice and chips. Everything was delicious, even the rice had buckets of flavour! We polished off our plates and had wine. All came to 30 euros, an absolute bargain for such good food! The host was very friendly and welcoming, the food came out promptly and we didn't feel rushed. Will definitely be coming back!

We were wine tasting at Domaine La Tour Boisée (also recommend a stop there), and Florence recommended this restaurant nearby. She even called ahead for us. Had a fabulous 3 course lunch at 16.50 euros and a local white wine for 18 euros. The owner/chef is British, and the staff speaks English. We saw some local ex-pats who have vacation homes in the area. The soup and charcuterie plate as starters were tasty and ample portions. The rosemary roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and zucchini and eggplant had just the right amount of rosemary, and I loved the crispy skin chicken. I adored my apricot compote with crumble on top. The apricots were cooked separate from the crumble so the crumble stayed nice and crunchy. I tried to figure out the secret spice - it was ginger in the crumble. Great area for wines, and I highly recommend the restaurant.
