World class skiing, decadent European style cuisine, ornamental cathedrals, peaceful island life…Canada is a patchwork of thriving cities and majestic wilderness. Montreal beckons travelers with its French charm and booming cultural landscape. In Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is a vision of Frank Gehry architecture and national artistic treasures. The gleaming mountain ranges of Banff set a stunning backdrop for an exploration of the Canadian Rockies.

The Woodview Inn

The Woodview Villa (Inn) was a private dwelling until April 1946 when it was taken over by the partnership of Daniel P. Delaney and William F. Koepke who began running it as an Inn. Subsequently, Mr. Delaney and his wife took full ownership and added the Garden Suites in the early 1950's. Shortly after, the Inn and Restaurant were given the name ' The Athlone Inn and Restaurant', which remained the name until closing in 2014. The Woodview is a 10 room Inn, which includes breakfast with every night stay. Today your hosts, John and Steve, give a nod to this grand lady's former history and glory by celebrating her original name. Welcome to The Woodview Inn.

Best Inn Ever!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Woodview Inn. What a gem! John and Steve are the most engaging and involved innkeepers I have ever met, always visible and present to ensure your stay is top-notch. Robin at the Front Desk is lovely and welcoming. Although we arrived when a party of 12 was checking in, she managed to take that quick moment to greet us and make us feel welcome. All of the staff were warm and professional. We stayed in Garden Suite #1, adjacent to the main inn. King bed with a comfortable pull out bed and a full kitchenette. Never have I been in a room in my travels where you don't find something askew, even if it is the most minimal. Not here. Impeccabily clean with attention to detail a priority. In the morning we had a lovely cooler outside our door chock a block full with fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice, Proseco, granola bars and croissant sandwiches. The onsite restaurant, Graydon's ......WOW!! The food is exceptional. We had the filet mignon and ribs...both accompanied with seasonal vegetables and perfectly cooked! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The ribs....best ever. A generous portion even with the 1/2 rack and the meat fell off the bone. The homemade sauce.....spectacular....wish they bottled it for sale. We started with the gourmet onion rings ( to die for ) and the seared Ahi tuna salad ( a special that evening). We will definitely be back, and will be certain to recommend The Woodview Inn as a great place to relax while visiting the Kingston-Gananoque area.

We stayed here for 2 days and it was wonderful. The one bedroom unit cabin was clean, cozy, and everything we've expected. It was next to a creek and had fire pits on the banks. Staff was very helpful, I had forgotten something after checking out and they were quick to help me get it back a couple days later. Would definitely come back again!

Nice establish - French literacy makes a difference

My wife and I enjoyed our time at the B&B. You can walk into Downtown Magog in 5 minutes, and our room and bed were comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well, and though the bathroom was exceedingly small, it functioned and was clean. I have two things that may help fellow travellers when they consider booking this location. 1. Language - speaking French would have created a better experience for us. One of the hosts did speak workable English. I like to converse with hosts and other visitors, and this is not something that could happen at the B&B or, for that matter, for most of the establishments we frequented in Magog. 2. If you are looking for decor reminiscent of the time of the building, I found that there were period pieces, but the great majority appeared to be from mainstream shops. There was also an interesting focus on wine bottle openers, but wines were not available, nor were there any suggestions of local vineyards. We didn't ask about it due to the language barrier.

Wonderful Stay

Reviewed By Beata-and-James

We had the pleasure of staying at the Stone Maiden Inn for our little Stratford adventure from June 2nd to June 5th, 2022. This was our first stay together at a Bed and Breakfast and we were thrilled beyond all expectations. The property itself is a wonderfully cared for 1873 Victorian mansion. The interior is a pleasant balance of eclectic and period appropriate décor, with stunning wallpaper and interesting knick-knacks throughout the edifice. We stayed in La Grande Chambre, and were extremely pleased with the layout, which included a well-appointed bathroom, and a nicely sized makeup area. Moving into the main bedroom, we were delighted with the comfortable king-size bed, a nicely carved wardrobe and a multitude of shaded windows. Each morning greeted us with a new breakfast menu with a couple of delicious choices, preceded by a scrumptious appetizer. Each day's breakfast ended up being a fun and tasty treat. The location of the inn was another pleasant surprise, as it is situated minutes away from the downtown area, and close to the Stratford Festival theatres. The inn is also a few steps away from the wonderful walking paths along the Avon river. Fortuitously, the Stone Maiden is tucked far enough out of the way that we felt sheltered from the hustle and bustle, which comes with a tourist city. All in all, the inn and meals were absolutely spectacular, yet they paled in comparison to the geniality of our host. Upon meeting Tim, we could tell that this was a man who loved his job and took pride in not only the inn but also the hospitality he offered to each of his guests. Tim radiated positivity and exuded all the qualities of a true hotelier. Tim and Johanne turned a great stay into a perfect one. Not only will we be back to the Stone Maiden Inn on our next trip to Stratford, we will recommend it to any that are looking to visit. Beata and James

West End Guest House

Harking back to the days when the West End was Vancouver’s first residential neighbourhood, the 1906-built West End Guest House was once home to the Edwards family – some of their photographs of early Vancouver adorn the walls. Current owners Paul Wylie and David Birch have modernised the interiors and plumbing (all rooms are en suite), while retaining a period charm. The eight individually styled and named guest suites range from lush garden level (Superior King Garden Suite) to cosy top floor (Deluxe king Suite). Complimentary gourmet breakfasts, free parking for each room and free Wi-Fi add to the charm. It is on historic Haro Street, with easy access to the nearby Stanley Park seawall, or Davie and Robson Street shopping areas. The parlour with hearth is ideal for winter contemplation, while the veranda and garden beckon in summer months.

It was my first time visiting Vancouver and I’m happy I picked the West End Guest House! This bed and breakfast is a gem. Beautiful house with unique antique style. The bedroom and bathroom had beautiful designs and the bed was comfortable and cozy. The staff were super friendly and accommodating during my stay. The breakfasts were delicious and they offer a togo breakfast sandwich if you aren’t able to make the set breakfast time. Very flexible. I enjoyed the best baked muffins and cakes while staying there. Great location in downtown in a lovely neighborhood. Close to a lot of main attractions and easy access to transit. I had a really great time staying there by myself and will recommend to my friends and family. I hope to be back soon! :) - Eliza

Green Oaks B&B

We would like to welcome you to Niagara-on-the-Lake and to our bed and breakfast where we serve a fresh hot breakfast each morning. We sit on the edge of Ravine Winery (walk out my back yard into the vineyards and follow them to the restaurant and winery). Also in the area Chateau Des Charmes winery & Colanari. Both are just a km away - just a few of the many wineries the region has to offer. Niagara Falls is a 15 minute drive. Enjoy the Gardens, or do as we do have a coffee/wine on the porch and watch the cyclists go by. We are located on a popular cycling route. Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room & consists of Fresh eggs and items from my garden when in season. We are a short drive (10 minutes) to Niagara Falls (Maid of the Mist, Buttery Fly Avery) or to Old Town with the great shopping and the Shaw Theatre. Wine tours can be arranged. Non smoking house but there is a table away from the house with ashtrays. Pets are not allowed - I cannot change it on the listing.

Trish and Norm are the perfect hosts. We stayed with two other couples. We were greeted promptly, shown the grounds and our rooms. There are multiple spots to sit and talk, have a drink or just nap. Each morning Trish prepares a gourmet multicourse breakfast and takes care to match the experience to the dining requirements for each guest. Green Oaks is about a 10 minute drive through wine country to old town and 10 minutes to the Falls. A wonderful experience from the moment we arrived to when we sadly departed.

We stayed one night here and would have happily stayed longer. The decor was beautiful, newly renovated and homely while still being stylish. Amazing touches like USB ports next to the bed, a TV which is compatible with streaming services like Netflix and fluffy robes on the bed. An amazing touch was the communal room for teas, coffees and light snacks which you had access to whenever you’d like including a great espresso coffee machine! The owner Mark was so welcoming and told us all of the history of the hotel, some great nearby recommendations for things to do in the area. Summit the 8 month old puppy greeted us which was amazing! A fantastic nights sleep in a really comfortable bed in a great room, genuinely the best stay we’ve had across our 2 week road trip of Canada. Highly recommend!

Lovely and stylish hotel, very homely.

Reviewed By Raymond D

We were on holiday in the area, just for a couple of nights and were taken by the lovely photos and the location. The hotel is a very traditional house, oozing with character. The lounge and library were very stylish and as it was low season, there was only one other person staying there. We got upgraded to a larger room. We felt we had the whole house to ourselves and since meeting the landlady when we arrived, the other guest and the chef who cooked us breakfast was the only other people we met. Phase 1 of breakfast, with coffee, juice and a sausage roll was brought to the room, and phase 2 was a sit-down service in the dining room / lounge. Lovely place and definitely recommend. Only down side is it's on the side of a main road and whilst quiet in the night, it did get a bit noisy in the morning.
