The service was horrible. The waitress couldn't remember who ordered what, the order was messed up, drinks weren't refilled and no sweetener unless we asked a few times. When they went to run our card she left it sitting on the hostess table and went and sat down at a table for ten minutes and another waitress had to help us. We will not be back!

This place popped up in our social media feed a while back. After a few soft openings in January, they had their grand opening Jan 31, 2018. We went on Feb 3rd, and kudos to them, it appears their soft openings were useful because it didn't feel like the place had just opened. The wait staff was familiar with the menu and comfortable with the assortment of food and drinks. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. Shortly after we were seated, it began to fill up more quickly. Our waitress (Casey) arrived, introduced herself with a friendly smile, and took our drink order. While those were being poured, she circled back and asked if we had any menu questions, then took our order. The menu is intentionally limited and is built around a sort-of French, kind-of British cuisine. Executive chef (and one of the owners) Lara Hanneman created the menu using all of her own recipes. The items are tapas style but most are big enough servings to be shared by two people. After our drinks arrived (a Kraken and Coke, double and a Grey Goose Martini - both well-executed), we dug into the Turkey Meatballs (served in a cauldron, swimming in an earthy mushroom sauce) and the Bacon Jam (a combination of warm bacon, oils, and spices) spread onto baguette slices. We also tried the Gourges (cheese puffs). We moved on to the French Dip Sliders (a crusty baguette heaped with roast beef and cheese with a delicious au jus) and the Steak Frites with Garlic Parmesan Butter. Both were quite tasty. We finished off with the Chocolate Creme Brulee, which was delivered to our table by one of the owners. He offered to show us "the secret room", which is a great space that seats up to 10 for private parties, meetings etc. It's a great space and fun idea, concealed behind the bookcase adjacent to the bar.The decor is well executed. It has the feel of an old pub, with textured walls, old paintings, flickering candles in chandeliers, and a couple high-tech surprises waiting to be discovered by guests. The art on the walls is currently that of Executive Chef Lara (who also used to be the creative director at Knott's Berry Farm across the street) and I loved seeing her work.Unlike a few years ago, there is now a wide variety of drinking/dining options in Buena Park. Sadly, almost all of them are chains or restaurants catering to tourists at Knotts. For my money, I'll choose a local spot, built and backed by local entrepreneurs any day, with locally-prepared food, over the cookie cutter same-ness of the other offerings in the area. We'll definitely be back!

We dined here on Christmas Day. The servers were very attentive and friendly. The portions are huge. If you are only wanting a small meal then you should split something. My son had the nachos and said they were meh. We tried the freshly made tapioca pudding - again a huge portion. It was very good. My husband had the strawberry shortcake - enormous. I am posting pictures. I would say try it once as an adventure.

Chili's

Reviewed By BruinDan

Chili’s Grill & Bar is one of the world’s largest full-service restaurant chains. This particular Chili’s tends to get quite busy, no doubt helped by its location – it’s about a block east of the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park.Chili’s bills itself as a “family-friendly chain serving classic Tex-Mex & American fare in a Southwestern-style setting.” Anyone who has enjoyed genuine Tex-Mex cuisine in cities like San Antonio, McAllen, Laredo or El Paso would tell you that Chili’s recipes have been adjusted significantly for the Midwest and Northern palates. It has to be said, however, that Chili’s is largely responsible for introducing fajitas to the general public. While Chili’s is known best for their burgers and fajitas, each member of my party was going through a “trying to eat healthier” stage, so our orders included the Ancho chile grilled salmon, Margarita grilled chicken, and small (6 oz.) sirloin. The entrees were neither cutting edge nor life-changing, but they were tasty and well-prepared. The dining room and bar were clean and well-kept, and our server was friendly and engaging.Chili’s menu is filled with formulaic and middle-of-the-road choices. So why is the chain so successful? A certain level of standardization allows for consistency in execution, so when you go to a Chili’s you know what to expect. We don’t always need to be “wowed” when we dine out; sometimes we just want something familiar and flavorful, and that’s what Chili’s does well.

I was in the area on business and I invited a local customer to lunch. He said no need to come by his office and suggested we meet here. It was my first time here and I'm sure glad he introduced this place to me. Everything was great. The food, the service, everything was top of the line. I had the halibut and it was great. I'll make sure I get back here the next time I'm in the area.

Such a fantastic place to spend some time with your family and friends. Atmosphere is perfect, but can be a bit noisy and worth ear plugs at times. The most amazing thing is they have a dog menu for my service dog. They serve his food in a dog bowl. He sits on the seat next to me.
